While I fully respect that teaching is a demanding and essential profession — and that educators deserve scheduled breaks throughout the year — the cumulative time off, combined with frequent use of sick days, has resulted in significant and ongoing classroom disruption. My son has a substitute teacher at least once a week, which is concerning given that full instructional weeks are already limited by holidays, breaks, half-days, and weather closures.The consistency of instruction is suffering. Frequent substitutes interrupt academic continuity, and lessons often do not meaningfully advance the curriculum. Recently, my son’s writing celebration was canceled without explanation. Homework is inconsistently assigned or communicated, graded work is rarely returned, reading levels have not been assessed, and math tests are not sent home. Recess has been withheld due to teachers not wanting to be outside in the cold with their class. rather than requiring appropriate attire, teachers only allow indoor recess where the kids sit in front of a screen instead of getting the physical activity they need outdoors. Instructional pacing is also unclear. For example, math units appear to begin and stop abruptly without communication. At home, we regularly find ourselves teaching foundational math concepts because our son reports they have not yet been covered in class. These concerns are shared among multiple parents, whose experiences are similar.My son has no behavioral concerns and has historically performed at or above grade level. It is troubling to consider how students who may already be struggling are being impacted by the lack of instructional consistency and communication.

No nurse at the school. That seems like a tremendous liability with hundreds of students. Office staff have this attitude that they are just God's gift to this earth and have no concern or respect for a parent's requests/concerns. A parent knows their child best. Not a pompous administrative assistant. Not a disrespectful and lazy principal. A PARENT. You are supposed to be able to trust the school and staff with the well being of your child and feel welcome at the school. Unfortunately, neither of these things happen. On top of that, the learning here is subpar, as too many teachers don't even meet the state standard for teaching as far as their certification goes. Nearly this entire school needs an employee clean out. Just shocking a school can "function" in such a manner.

They have all this money to make their school look good they should make their parking lot a little bigger can't even get my truck out of a parking spot

In my experience, teachers kind of suck at engaging students well most of the time. There's the occasional teacher ignoring girls in booty shorts and telling another girl to cover up because their clothing is a bit too far above their knees, I guess for the teacher's standards. The teachers motivate us to learn by bugging us to do our homework, which is a bit annoying, because they don't want us to act like elementary schoolers, then treat us like elementary schoolers sometimes. The school does not support student mental health very well in my opinion. We just have to sit through lessons in AM advisory that is pretty much just boring, repeated information. As far as I know, if you have a disability, it either has to be very visible and obvious, like not being able to walk properly. Otherwise, your parents have to get you an individualized education plan. I'm not in that plan, but my mom wants me in it, and my brothers are currently in it. As far as I know, it's just inconvenient in this school. You have an hour or class period where you sit in a room with a teacher and a few other kids, and instead of the class helping kids with homework, which a lot of kids say it's supposed to do, you get more homework. I guess I feel safe in the school. It's fine. Is family engagement actually supposed to be used? All our parents do is sign permission slips and ask us to do homework. Last topic, probably, the passing time should be longer than four minutes, if only because girls need more time to change their pads and tampons and stuff. Who decided four minutes was enough time? Some teachers don't care and WILL mark you tardy. Do adults not think middle schoolers have periods? Periods can start as early as ten. It's pretty stupid in my opinion.
