I can no longer recommend White Oak. Having sent four children here, the difference between the 'old' White Oak and the current state is night and day. Since the leadership change, the school has lost its community feel and replaced it with an overly rigid, 'prison-like' environment. My 5th grader is unhappy every day, and teacher turnover is noticeably high. Discipline feels inconsistent and biased. It’s disappointing to see a once-great school go downhill so quickly. It is telling that my second youngest child is now much happier at middle school than they ever were during their final years at White Oak. If I had another child, I would not send them here. I hope the administration listens to parent feedback and restores the community-centered spirit the school once had.

"Sugar Rush is a good community event that makes the neighborhood feel special. Sugar hill now has a farmers market in downtown. I believe on Tuesdays. That’s really nice. The Halloween festivities pretty much any holiday is fun here."

"Is a very quiet and secure neighborhood. Lots of families with pets and small children. Majority of the houses are rented. Houses are closed to each other, so the street parking is very limited. "

"Sugar Hill is a perfect location with many parks nearby, The Mall of Georgia only a few miles down the road, and Lake Lanier within 10 minutes drive! Plus, it is very close to I985 and I85, so easy access to the interstate. Downtown Sugar Hill has had beautiful new theater, restaurants, and even outdoor venue recently added. It’s a beautiful town!"

"Trick or Treating, Events at the Sugar Bowl, the E center all the local shops and restaurants. It’s a very friendly and accepting place to live no matter your race, sexuality or gender. Great for families and singles. "

"You will need a car as there is no public transport. I work in the city so my commute without traffic is approximately 45 mins to an hour. With traffic it can be anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 hours."
