"Don’t let the short distance to twin fool you. Traffic is god awful between the horrible bridge traffic and decrepit intercostal. One accident (which is basically everyday) and you’re stuck on the bridge for 30 minutes to several hours. I once was literally stuck on the bridge for 3 hours in standstill gridlock."
  • SteveT
"From the Oaks subdivision, you can get caught very easily and quickly in terrible traffic going towards Baton Rouge. Heading toward Plaquemine in the early morning also gets pretty congested."
  • Virginia M.
"Easy access to Baton Rouge. Small town feel. Friendly neighbors. Safe to ride bikes for adults and children. Pets are generally on leash and accompanied by owner. "

"None. This is a horrible town to live in. I hear gun shots way too often. The schools are horrible. My children have attended 5 different elementary‘s and this is by far the worst school they’ve ever attended. "

"My commute is great! I take the river road to work so I don't have to deal with horrible Louisiana drivers! Adds around 5 minutes to my drive but keeps my blood pressure in a healthy range!"
  • Katietee43
"The neighborhood is fairly family friendly in terms of neighbors. It’s a lot of either old people or younger families. Lots of people walk around and play outside with their kids during the day. I would not walk around at night because there are drifters trying to get to the levee. It’s usually pretty quiet, but you can hear the baseball games and emergency response vehicles on LA1 from our house by the levee. Also, sometimes at night there are drag racers you can hear. Also, the chemical plant by the bridge and Oaks Avenue releases some sort of chemicals and is one of the reasons we want to move. It stinks and makes us feel sick. Also, all the schools are terrible. You will have to commute across the river to get something worthwhile."

"This town did not flood in the 2016 Fema disaster. the neighbors may be a bit nosey but they look out for your property. The crime is very low. It's close to the interstate. There's hardly ever any traffic jams within this town. "
