There is a large renovated kitchen with center island and dining and sitting areas, an inviting library with custom cherry shelving, living room, formal dining room with butler's pantry, large great room for entertaining and gathering, 1 or 2 offices, and another large room above the two-bay attached garage.The Hope family purchased the farm in the 1950s and devoted decades to the care and restoration of the building, including replacing the many fireplaces with modern tile-lined chimneys and adding on the kitchen, garage, and great room. In addition, they employed a master carpenter from North Sandwich, NH to create the many striking wooden built-ins and extensive trim work, including paneling, mantles, and carvings.The current owners have reinvigorated the farm with several large gardens, the planting of dozens of fruit trees, and the introduction of Hereford cattle, Romney sheep, and New Hampshire Red chickens, as well as using the land to help develop and reintroduce some regional heirloom vegetables and favorite old apple varieties. They also installed new thermopane windows, redesigned the kitchen, and updated the utility systems.Danbury is a small New England town with a rich agricultural past less than 100 miles north of Boston. It is located half way between Concord, the state capitol, and Hanover, home to Dartmouth College, about 45 minutes from each. The property is 15 minutes away from the vibrant college town of New London and 30 minutes from Mt. Sunapee Ski Resort and its state park beach. More outdoor recreation is close at hand: Kearsarge State Park, Ragged Mountain Ski Area, boating on nearby ponds and lakes, plus miles of hiking and cycling, including the 57+-mile Northern Rail Trail.

I am so pleased with the Newfound High School experience. The students, not just some but many, treat my son like a rock star. They cheer for him at the Unified soccer and basketball games. They sit with him at lunch and treat my son with respect and acceptance. I am so pleased with the special needs program. I have been treated well and not talked down to. Quick story...I watched Christian walk up to a group of cheerleaders while at a basketball game. My heart sank, oh no, he is going to get a hard pass. I am so grateful to tell you they were so attentive to him and engaged with him. The overall vibe of the school has been impressive. Thank you Newfound High School. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageKids at Newfound spend a lot of effort simply trying to survive social and physical bullying and, thus, are not provided with ample opportunity to focus on learning. The school seems to put extra effort into allowing opportunities for kids to make up work, retake tests and just pass classes, which is not doing well to prepare kids for college educations or entering the workforce where they will not be given multiple chances to redo work. The teachers do their best, but the community and parental support are lacking which leads to significant behavior problems.Parent Review7y ago
