I went to this school for 6th and 7th grade and I am so glad covid cut that short. This school is quite literally awful. I got bullied by my teacher and the very same year he won teacher of the year for BMMS. How do you let that happen? I suffered for years from social anxiety following this event and he continues to teach like nothing ever happened. I have never met someone who had a positive experience here. Student violence is constant and unmanaged. Do yourself and your kids a favor and find somewhere else to attend.

While my daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her time at MC and has had an overall positive high school experience, some aspects of the school that have left me frustrated. Most teachers are good, and the school spirit is undeniable, which is wonderful to see. However, I’ve had serious concerns with my daughter's counselor and her assigned vice principal. Unfortunately, my experience with them has been disappointing.When my daughter needed support, both of these staff members were unresponsive and seemed to lack the time or willingness to help. Despite their outward appearances of caring, their actions—or lack thereof—made it clear they weren’t genuinely invested in providing the assistance my daughter needed. This has been incredibly frustrating, as it’s difficult for students to feel supported when those in positions of authority are not providing the help they truly need.

My experience with Westview High School has been extremely disappointing. I have been surprised by the lack of school spirit, student recognition, and overall sense of community compared with other schools in the same district.What stands out most is the athletic department. Student-athletes dedicate countless hours to training, competing, and representing the school, yet recognition and support often feel inadequate. Accomplishments that would be celebrated at other schools are largely overlooked at WV. As a parent, it is discouraging to see students work so hard and receive so little acknowledgment for their efforts. The coaching quality has also been disappointing in several programs, with some coaches appearing disengaged and doing little to foster enthusiasm, pride, or a positive team culture.Having experience with other Poway Unified schools, particularly Mt. Carmel and Rancho Bernardo, the difference is just striking. Those schools foster strong school pride, celebrate athletic and academic achievements, and create an environment where students feel valued. At Westview, many events feel poorly organized and lack the energy and enthusiasm that help build a strong school community.Even the gym reflects this lack of pride. Rather than serving as a place that showcases student accomplishments and school history, it feels like a cold, gray space with virtually no displays, trophies, banners, records, or awards celebrating the achievements of Westview students and teams. Walking into the gym, there is little sense of tradition, accomplishment, or school identity. It is just depressing.The administration has also been difficult to reach, with communication often feeling unresponsive and concerns not being addressed at all. While Westview has many talented students and dedicated teachers, the leadership, school culture, and athletic experience fall far short of what families should expect from a high-performing high school in the Poway Unified School District.
