This school has some fairly good classes... The teachers they have hired are not that great though. When I was a sophomore our english teacher was forced to resign due to the poor job he did. The alt ed program for juniors and seniors was also cut leaving many of them falling through the cracks. The art teacher was necessarily mean and would tear up students art. She would also harass students. She has been reported numerous times by students and I feel as if nothing has been done to come to the aid of the students. The teachers aren't very flexible. Many students suffering from anxiety or depression are left suffering in silence. This school wasn't a horrible school, but my fellow peers and I have suffered immensely due to the irresponsibility of the school. Things could be handled better and students should look forward to learning. They shouldn't feel ashamed to be who they are and feel chased out of AP level classes by their fellow classmates. Some teachers are more understanding than others and the few teachers that do their best to make everyone comfortable and spread their learning out I do appreciate immensely.

My son attends River Valley Middle School and we all love it. He's in sixth grade this year. I have been extremely impressed with the whole staff and the way they work with students. Teachers have set times they can help kids during study halls, which makes it very easy for the kids to get the help they need. High expectations of all students.

4 of 5 kids have been through SGE, and #5 will be starting in 2 years. We live where we live because of this school. Staff is fully committed to an inclusive and compassionate environment that supports diverse learning needs.
