In recent years, this school has dramatically decreased in quality. Many of my former teachers have expressed with sadness that some time around my graduating class '09 or '10, the quality of education and student motivation is nothing but disappointing. Even graduating this school in the top 10 couldn't prepare me for life at the University of Georgia. Oh and those former teachers I was talking? Most of them were laid off with the dip in the economy or retired after new administration took over. And ALL of those teachers were in the math and science areas, with a few in history or English or AP classes. I mean the BEST teachers. The ones that were tough but they TAUGHT. The football coaches stayed, of course. Even though they don't contribute to education much at all. The extra-curriculars are this schools only redeeming point. Programs like band and ROTC most likely kept more kids out of trouble and getting pregnant than there would've been without them. Teachers have also told stories of admins deciding whether to buy iPads for labs for no reason while the school faced bankruptcy if it didn't preserve paper. Now, I'm trying to get my parents to send my little sister elsewhere.

My 9 year old son with ADHD has been attending for 2 years now. He has had some behavioral problems and issues with his learning as well. I can honestly say that his teachers go above and beyond to work with me as a team in order to get him on the right path. He has gone from making 11's on test to 88's and up! It is a team effort, and I can tell that they just want him to succeed! I appreciate the staff more than they know for stepping and taking him under their wings. There are some schools that encounter a child that has a condition and that needs a little extra, and they send the kid off to another school to deal with it. I appreciate Eastside and my sons teachers all that they have done, and all they continue to do! We work together as a team, and it's a blessing to have that!Ms. Phillips and Mrs. Parker are both AMAZING!! My son would not be able to come as far as he has with out you both. I appreciate you two more than you know!I love the new apps this year. The Dojo and Remind apps are AMAZING!!My only suggestion is maybe offering the online RAZ-KIDS program. I had that at a previous school and it does wonders with reading and comprehension!!
