5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is in her 2nd year at Magruder HS and is thriving. She's involved in sports, has a great group of friends and is enjoying her classes (at least most of them). We are excited about the new administration and are excited to see what direction the school goes in. So far, we are very pleased with our experience at Magruder.Parent Review2y ago13 Reviews - Shady Grove Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTbh, it pretty good I guess. I’m a current student in my 2nd year at shady grove. I am in the Global humanities program with advanced English and history, and I’m in advanced math as well. For staff, this school has it well. Majority (60-40) of the teachers I’ve had so far were pretty chill, I even talk to some of the teachers I’ve had in previous year(s). But I will say there has been some times where I don’t really understand certain teachers methods when it comes to engaging kids , it happens to the point where I have to get my own personal tutor, in class it just feels like a teacher is talking at us not to us, many people tell me this too. I’m a fast learner and I understand things right when you tell me, and if not I’ll eventually get the gist. Something I don’t really find fair is that, you only get experienced teachers when you’re in the advanced classes. I hear a lot of students in my grade complaining about their on level English teacher not having control over the class and not being able to teach a lesson properly, meanwhile I’m over here with a teacher that knows how to handle a classroom and how to get kids engaged in learning. I’ve been switched out of classes twice in these past 2 years so I’ve experienced the same teachers who don’t have control over their classes. For students, I can’t really say much around this topic, because they are middle schoolers you can only control them so much. A lot of people in my grade know me and I talk to a lot of kids from different friend groups and things like that. But socially right now it just feels like I don’t really have a place, and I’m completely fine with that. This type of topic should be discussed with a counselor or guardian. But I will say administration has a pretty good way of handling when things happen online or when rumors get spread. Behavioral issues on the other hand, like I said before kids will be kids. As far as I’ve see and have been through, the biggest punishment you’ll get is an in school suspension or a afterschool detention for a bit,. That’s why a lot of kids continue to do the same things over and over because all they get is a slap on the wrist sometimes. There’s no real reflection process accept writing a paragraph on a paper, that’s something that can be worked on as well.Student Review2y ago9 Reviews - Flower Hill Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is now in 1st grade. His teacher, Ms. Bogner, in kindergarten worked very closely with him. She saw potential in him that I didn't even see. She pushed him and at the end of the year, we were all pleasantly surprised with his progress. The staff, also, worked to help me and my son. They work hard everyday to make the school experience a smooth transition for everyone. Thank you Flower Hill Elementary!Parent Review10y ago2 Reviews - Check out schools near 8142 Chelaberry Ct.

"the perfect blend of tranquility, community, and convenience. Tree-lined streets, well-tended gardens, and friendly neighbors create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like home the moment you arrive. Mornings begin with birdsong and sunrises that filter through the leaves. Local parks and scenic walking trails are just steps away, ideal for outdoor lovers and families alike. On weekends, stroll to charming cafés, family-owned shops, and vibrant farmers’ markets that give the area its unique character and small-town charm."

"This is the “Best” commuting area in metro DC. Short distance to Metro redline and to buses and to I270 and to a new interconnecting highway. We are out in the country but 1 mile from shops and about 3 miles from a new outlet mall."

"The neighborhood is well maintained, and the community center makes it easy to plan an event. We have had community events in the past, but recently, last 2-5 years, it has been harder to maintain."

"Public transportation is very good. Highway access is great with multiple exits nearby. Rush hour or 1 accident tends to delay your commute but that no different than anywhere else in the metro area. "

"I drive to lake Forrest transit center to take the 101 bus. It would be Very convenient if my commute to Bethesda was not ridiculously long- 1 to 1 1/12 hr by the 101. Or 45-1hr by bus and metro. "

"It’s a safe town but the cost of living is rising at a fast pace. A ton of new townhomes have been built here and they’re all fairly expensive ($600K+ per unit). Schools are below average. "
