5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love Culbertson! Like others have stated, I also wish there were more after school programs for the kids. 25 years ago when I went to Culbertson, we had basketball for the 4th and 5th graders. This is no longer the case but other than that, the staff is friendly and caring! Mr. Tucker is a phenomenal principal as well!Parent Review2y ago6 Reviews - Washington Jr High & Academy Prgm

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is improving, but not enough. The “Washington-1” program is very bad, with many students being bullied and other similar things. The academy is good, but is still occasionally plagued with bullying. The principal has changed and the new one is much better at connecting to families and such.Student Review3y ago4 Reviews - Joliet Central High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot speak for everyone, but based on my four years at this school, graduating in 2020, I feel very fortunate to have been a part of it. I participated in girls' track and cross country, as well as a brief experience in wrestling, all of which were positive and welcoming environments.Throughout my time at the school, I never felt targeted or bulled. My dean was consistently supportive and approachable, and I always felt comfortable seeking guidance when needed. My teachers treated me fairly and respectfully, never making me feel out of place. They were thorough, communicative, and encouraged questions, which created a leaming environment where I felt confident asking for clarification or reviewing previously covered material. The school also does an excellent job of encouraging student socialization through classes, sports, group projects, advisory periods, and assemblies. Attendance was taken seriously, and parents were promptly notified of absences, which demonstrated strong communication between the school and families and reinforced student safety.Physical education offerings were especially impressive, as students could choose from a variety of options after their first year, including weightlifting, fitness courses with Fitbit tracking, yoga, referee training, and more. The language programs were another strength, offering instruction in English, French, Spanish, and American Sign Language. Driver's Education was a smooth and positive experience. My instructor was patient, friendly, and dedicated to ensuring we were fully prepared for obtaining our driver's licenses. After-school clubs were also enjoyable and rewarding, especially when participating in activities aligned with personal interests. These clubs fostered strong connections, and we celebrated together on final days for the club.School events such as prom were always well-organized and created unforgettable memories. Additionally. the option to attend summer school to earn credits early and graduate ahead of schedule was a valuable opportunity.Personally, I did not witness any negative experiences or outcomes that would discourage me from sending my own children to this school. On the contrary, I would want my children to have the same positive experience I did. I trust Joliet Central High School to provide a safe, supportive environment where students can socialize, learn, and grow through the wide range, activities and opportunities it offers.Parent Review3mo ago10 Reviews - Check out schools near 811 Greenfield Ave.

"Movie nights in the park, and party in the park for the kids. Trick or treating is big in our neighborhood, and a lot of families decorate for the big holidays like Christmas and Halloween. "

"My community does not have great access to public transportation. If one does not have a car., a person would have to walk at least 2 miles. "

"what's nice about the Ridgewood area there are two really different areas east of Bridge Street and West of Bridge Street the section west of Brick Street is in unincorporated Joliet Township which is also known as Joliet. But it's like a Hidden Gem the values have not risen crazy high Pilcher Park Nature Center Highland Park Frisbee golf and bird Haven Park higginbottom Woods are all nearby as well as the Woodruff golf course. Houses don't come up for sale very often and let's hope the values don't creep up to crazy"

"the yards are on the large side, lots of trees, park is right there ,Highland Park and Pilcher Park as well the Nature Center. plenty of space to walk your dog. people mind their pets. It's unneighborly to leave your dog unattended while it barks."

"There are neighbors that don’t have their pets on a leash and let them roam the neighborhood pooping on everyone’s lawn or urinating the tires of your car; their pets are out all night barking and don’t let their pets inside despite the cold weather. Recommend having a fence up or you will be picking up feces regularly."

"This neighborhood is fairly close to RT. 59 and black road which are two major roads in the area. There’s multiple ways to access these roads too and plenty of gas stations, dinning options and Walgreens/CVS near by. 10/10 recommend "

"There is a walking trail that is about 13 miles long with parks at different entrances and this trail goes through forests. Nice to walk your dog. One of the parks at an entrence of the trail is a dog park and it tends to be busy, usually plenty of other dogs there. You do have to pay a fee however to bring your dog here."

"Joliet offers minimal buses and public transportation. Not reliable to live off of unless you use a lot of uber but that adds up. I would definitely recommend having a car. "
