There are a few stand out teachers. Most are mediocre, and some simply don't care and show little initiative, yet actually expect students to put in more effort than they do. A few don't even have lesson plans and they fail to teach anything at all. Some don't believe their students have any right to be better than themselves. The school is wrapped around the ideas of participation ribbons and false supremacy. No one has the ability to recognize a true achievement, yet every last crumb on the floor makes its way into the local paper. This "too dumb for east coast, too ugly for west coast" energy leaves students believing they aren't capable of much at all, and so no one strives to do anything at all... Except athletics. Athletics run the whole system. They get you friends. They get you special attention from teachers. They get you into college. And when these athletes go to college, they have no developed passions for anything else but sports. And at this point they don't even believe in themselves enough to go any further in sports. They become a part of the never-ending loop of mediocrity. The arts program in the school is basic. The lunches are good enough. The attitude is not.
