Historic estate on protected deep-water Sunset Creek in Hampton, Virginia. Minutes by boat from the Chesapeake Bay. One hundred fifty feet of ipe-wood dock, with pier-side boathouse and boat lift. The property is nestled in the stately neighborhood known as Darling’s Little England, which is connected by bridge to shops and restaurants in downtown Hampton. The Hampton Yacht Club, the sailing capital of the southern Chesapeake Bay, and renowned Hampton University are at the head of Sunset Creek.

The three-story brick home features Flemish bond and has eight (8) bedrooms, with over 5,242 sq. ft of living space per city records, plus a full basement (1,555 sq ft) with wine cellar. Open floor plan spanning length of southern front of original home, with pocket doors retracted. Recent additions include installation of a new 100-year life Buckingham slate roof, as well as a new slate-roofed outdoor kitchen/party pavilion adjacent to large, heated saltwater pool. The kitchen pavilion has gas appliances, including an infrared patio heater. Second-floor porch was restored to original open-air design. The first floor wrap-around porch faces south and overlooks a pair of magnificent live oak trees in front of Sunset Creek and its working waterfront.

This unique property has been held for over thirty years; it is a generational opportunity for another large family or owner of a substantial yacht or fleet of boats who is looking for protected water and an accommodating waypoint or pleasure destination. The Hampton River/Sunset Creek waterway is one of the few in the area that are dredged by the Corps to accommodate tug boats, barges and large commercial vessels. 37º 01' 02.94” N, 76º 20' 55.65” W

"Everyone’s confusing this neighborhood with downtown Hampton it is not in downtown Hampton. It is off mercury across from Hardee’s - in a private gated community. It is on a peninsula surrounded by natural surroundings and water on three sides Has a clubhouse ,a pool ,grounds are kept incredibly nice. They have wildlife projects. Everyone is friendly and speaks and waves. I walk at sunrise and after dark at 12 o’clock at night the only thing that scares me every now and then is the occasional surprise by a rabbit, but my dog loves them "
  • Theresa Morgan
"I don’t know where that person got. It wasn’t safe and people raced through the neighborhood. It’s in a gated community Everybody is very friendly. It’s quiet. We’re surrounded by water a beautiful wildlife I walk at night during the day I see all the ospreys egrets Heron The pier is lit up at night. You can walk out on that. Everybody respects others nobody throws trash out. I feel blessed."
  • Cierra townes
"It’s a great place to live especially to raise children. Everything is in close proximity and it’s not busy with traffic all the time."
  • Sandnsea2022
"This is a great neighborhood to raise a family in. I believe that in a few years the price of real estate will increase. I purchased my home 5 years ago here and the value has more than doubled. Very safe area, neighbors walk dogs and the children are friendly."
  • Trulia User
"I love this growing area. Many locations for children to play and local fun activities are arriving such as the aquaplex, buckroe, and many more."

"Block party and all the restaurants on Queens street, make this neighborhood special. There are so many nice houses that have potential but unfortunately owners don’t care and have allowed everything to seem run down "
  • Dominique S.
"It’s so unsafe people will get robbed jumped plus they play on your door. It’s not safe for kids people speed through the neighborhood "

  • resident
"I know this area of Hampton and I personally would not live there. I hear of a lot of crime around this neighborhood and while it may look nice, it's not an area where you'd want to take walks in the evening or be out alone after dark. "
  • Sarah
"I work at NASA in Hampton and stayed with friends near this house before I bought my home in Newport News. I had my car broken into and the traffic in the morning was terrible from the bus. The area is near downtown so you get a lot of foot traffic across the lawn at night. "
