"I quiet little area established back in the late 1800's Convenient to downtown Birmingham without the traffic, close knit community, new elementary school. Our home has history, for it was built by the Young family, who donated the land to Jefferson County for the high school to be built on in 1922. History In 1922, a new high school was opened and was named after a recently retired Jefferson County school superintendent, John W. Minor. The land for the school property was donated by the Young family. The location was at the center of the different coal mine communities (Bayview, Brookside, Docena, Edgewater and Mulga) and other communities and later communities (Adamsville, Alden, Crumly Chapel, Forestdale, Graysville Hillview, Maytown, McDonald Chapel, Mineral Springs, Republic, Sandusky and Sylvan Springs)thus making it a great location for a high school. It served as the high school through May 1997 when a new high school was built on Minor Parkway, and classes began in the fall of 1997; Near the original high school location now stands a new elementary school. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor,_Alabama "
