8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHORRIBLE! this was the worst experience we have ever had with a school!, or with anything! My son had anxiety, seizures they would physically restrain him and shove me out of the office, they would keep him in the nurses office for HOURS instead of having me pick him up! He ended up in the ER a few times due to his being mistreated. He has chased me down the street as I drove off, I found him lying on the side walk scraped up and crying, if I didn't see him in my rear view mirror I would have never known he had left campus as I never received a call! And if you try to get help the principal will retaliate, I am NOT the first person she has retaliated against either. My reviews always get deleted. wondering how long this will stay this time. Also, ask around the neighborhood. So many parents I have met are upset about the way this school is run. Do not Trust ANYONE at this school. I trusted them to help us, but in the end my child ended up having to have therapy from the way he was treated. By the way, look at the 4 stars, they are from 5+ years ago. I will never forget or forgive the experience we had there.Parent Review7y ago9 Reviews - Montgomery Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagemeh, bad school honestly. Graduated this school 2 years ago and as one of the “smart and good students,” I wouldn’t recommend it. You can absolutely do better and choose for your kid. Honestly if you want your child to go to this school, transfer when they go to 8th grade because the other two years are absolutely useless. The 6th grade math teacher teaches you random things that youll never use in the future. The 6th grade social studies who favored me does not even check your work. I honestly sped ran it each time, copying random parts that seemed important and as long as the paper was filled fully, its a 10/10. The only good classes are the 8th grade math teacher, the PE teachers, english and the computer science teacher. History is also pretty nice but the history 8th grade teacher can be a bit well.. She criticized me for having a B in her class. Truly absurd. We had the opportunity to have a student teacher who was dedicated so we were able to learn and he was a great man who was passionate and fun. The 8th grade history actual teacher on the other hand is very boring so after we left many students including myself lost motivation. You learn the most in 8th grade math and english. In art, you practically do nothing the entire class, so choose computer science as your elective, you dont do that much work but you still learn and its really hands on, engaging and fun.Other Review2y ago12 Reviews - Kearny Digital Media & Design School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is NOT a review for DMD in particular. This is a general review for Kearny Educational Complex based on feedback from former and current students. Kearny has 4 small schools. 8th graders are funnelled into specific pathways depending on the small school. This can be a lot of pressure for students since most of them don't know what they want to have as a career yet. If they want to transfer to another small school, you have to have good grades AND the small school you're transferring to has to have space. If there's no space, you're stuck in the small school you're in. Each small school has one counselor. It's really hard to find information on events and updates as each small school operate separately. Their schedule and transcript can be very confusing. Students can take class at a different small school. If you need to retake a class, you need to make sure that the class name is the exact same or the new grade won't replace the old grade. They provide quarter and semester grades. Some 10th, few 11th, most of 12th graders have free period. Most 12th graders graduate a semester early but they highly "encourage" you to enroll to Mesa College for your spring semester of your senior year. If you attend SCC, you can take the most college classes compared to the other small schools who only take a couple or none. There's only one recurring AP class which is AP Computer Science Principles. BST has great internship opportunities for those who wants to be in healthcare. There's also the CNA and EMT programs offered if student has the capacity to do it. BST counselor is not as helpful when you're a senior. EID & SCC counselors will help you look over your college app if you take the initiative to see them. I'm not sure about DMD counselor. EID is project heavy and ideal if student want to make things. EID does not offer a lot of college classes. The principal is very strict and protective of the new building. Students cannot be in the be in the new building unless they have class. There is a study lounge area with tables but students cannot use it. If student is not paying attention, they can get a Spanish class even though they already took the LOTE and completed the requirement. As a parent, please pay attention because it's a waste of time for student, when they could've been taking a more useful class. Imin is great! Not ideal for transfers because you'll get behind. Students see the same people in their classes for most of 4 years.Other Review7mo ago5 Reviews - Kearny School of Biomedical Science and Technology

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school was decent mediocre teachers that just want the paycheck. I remember taking biology here and getting this crazy teacher named Horowitz that to this day I don't know if she was bipolar or hated life or both. So, advice is to just switch out if she even still teaches there, and make sure to follow the very strict dress code.Other Review8y ago3 Reviews - Kearny Engineering Innovation & Design

"Birdland, is on its own separate mesa connected to the larger Serra Mesa. Overlooking the San Diego River canyon, it is private, friendly and quiet; an established working/middle class neighborhood with mostly well-maintained single story houses built in the 1960’s. There is easy freeway access to nearby downtown and beaches. Medical care and shopping is minutes away. You do need a car, or rely on Uber/Lyft. "

"Close in mesas that offers easy auto access to almost all San Diego attractions and downtown business district, but very much an off the commuter traffic pattern. A few apartments with a very small shopping area. Moderate income bedroom community."
