6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter went to Ben Franklin for 3 years. I was pleased with her 2nd grade teacher, but that is it. The principal and her other teachers following did not seem to want to communicate with me at all. There needs to be more discipline in that school as well. The students are way out of hand. I would NOT recommend this school to anyone.Parent Review15y ago1 Reviews - Newark High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI absolutely enjoyed my stay at Newark High School! I am a recent graduate, and currently studying to be a teacher at Ohio State because of the influence from my high school teachers. To put it in perspective, I always grew up telling myself I’m going to be a high school dropout, which started even before I started my freshman year. That was due to my major depression and anxiety issues that I had, and because I never had a teacher/administer tell me I have potential. My sophomore year was a very difficult year for me, and was on the verge of never going back (had nothing to do with school) until my Councilor (Mr. Johnson) took me out of class to talk to me about life. Keep in mind, I’ve never spoken to him before and took time to get to know me. From there on out, he inspired me and changed my perception of life to what it is today. He got me out of my quiet, shy shell into talking to literally anyone. That was when I formed many relationships with all of my teachers and classmates and loved life. I went from having straight C’s in the beginning to straight A’s my senior year, getting a scholarship to college, and making the deans list almost every semester in college studying to be a TEACHER. If you would have asked me where I would be after high school when I was 13, I would probably say I would be dead. The Newark high school staff has changed my life in so many ways, and I know some of my classmates I graduated with would say the same thing.Other Review5y ago6 Reviews - Wilson Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn my opinion of this school they allow bullies to bully other kids and then let other kids gang up on one child and they get slapped on the wrist and told not to do it again but yet if my child goes to defend herself they get suspended what about the bully how about we bring them accountable right along with their parents come on New York City schools buckle down no more bullyingParent Review4mo ago3 Reviews - Check out schools near 79 Prospect St #E.

"I’ve lived here for 3 years and so far it’s an okay place. If there is the option? Don’t live here. High schools don’t have busing until 6pm and schools had a stupid dress code."
