Allen High School is probably the worst school in Pennsylvania. It is extremely dirty, white powder covers every inch of it. The teachers are terrible, either very incompetent or completely unreasonable. The school itself is just a maze of buildings built ontop of each other after a century and a half.

Areas for Improvement:Dedicated Staff Undermined by Systemic Issues: While many teachers and staff members are deeply committed and work hard to support students academically and emotionally, their efforts are often hampered by poor administrative support, high turnover, and inadequate resources. Without consistent leadership and district-level accountability, even the most dedicated staff are limited in what they can provide.Clubs, Sports, and Extracurricular Equity: The school offers a range of after-school activities, including sports and academic clubs, but participation is not always accessible or inclusive for all students. Barriers such as transportation, lack of information, or insufficient supervision may prevent equitable access to these enriching opportunities.Student Support Services Need Strengthening: Guidance counselors and emotional support staff are present, but they are often stretched thin and unable to meet the high demand for mental health and academic planning services. This is especially problematic for students with IEPs or those struggling emotionally or behaviorally, who may not receive timely or appropriate interventions.Building Condition: Parts of the building are outdated and in need of repair or modernization, which can affect the learning environment and school pride.Behavioral Challenges and School Climate: Reports of bullying, poor classroom management, and inconsistent enforcement of discipline policies continue to be a concern. Greater training, staffing, and support are needed to create a safer, more structured environment.Communication with Families: Parents often feel left in the dark regarding their child’s progress or behavioral concerns. Improved transparency, consistency, and responsiveness from teachers and administrators are critical.District-Level Administrative Failures: One of the most pressing issues is the incompetence and lack of oversight within the Allentown School District’s administration—particularly in the Special Education Department. Many special education students are not receiving the services and supports mandated by their IEPs. The lack of district supervision, transparency, and enforcement of legal obligations has led to academic stagnation, social regression, and increased emotional distress for these students. These systemic failures directly hinder special education students from achieving grade-level performance or equitable access to education.

This is one of the worst schools I have ever had the displeasure of allowing my child to attend. There is no order, there is no structure, there is no stability, The teachers are not supportive to the students, and they treat the job like a burden, the principal runs the school in a way that causes so many errors that parents have to face the backlash of the schools, error, for example, attendance or Misplacing paperwork. I have not had a good experience with this school and I just feel like once the school gets better staff, it’ll be an amazing school because it has so much potential as long as the employ people that actually want to work there.
