The school is well funded for being in such a poverty stricken area. Most of the teachers and staff are local. Around half the school is Hispanic with many students coming in and learning English at the school each year. Test scores are below average and there are lots of IEP student accommodations. There are lots of fun activities that the kids enjoy like field trips, in school assemblies, evening activities, etc. Overall not a bad school, but if I had kids going to the school, I would feel the need to supplement their education at home to keep them on a good path.

Overall CVHS has staff and teachers that want your student to succeed. Teachers are willing to help students staying after or coming early, and granting additional time on assignments when requested. Some kids don't care to be at school or doing work & are disruptive. That needs to be addressed more, but if parents don't care, there isn't much the school can do either. CV has better teachers and academics than Cedar (as I have been told by students who attended Cedar or both). Some problem teachers left recently so hopefully more improvement.
