2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSadly this whole district is a dumpster. They're building a whole new neighborhood and the students that are already enrolled don't even have teachers in the classroom. There's a lockdown every month. They allow sagging, piercing starting with the principal, he has earrings in his ears and that's completely unprofessional. Try calling the school you WILL NEVER get anyone to answer. There's fights every week. District needs to step out up we have teachers quitting every month. Don't enroll your child here. As I'm waiting to pick up my child at the front office one of the white counselors told a student she only had 3 minutes to listen to wherever she has to say. I feel terrible that those counselors aren't doing their job. Many kids suffer depression anxiety and all this lady had was 3 minutes.Parent Review3y ago8 Reviews - Charles Baxter Junior High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a family member of a student at Charles Baxter J High School, I can confidently say that this school has exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we walked through the doors, we felt welcomed by the staff and administration. The teachers are not only knowledgeable but also deeply invested in their students' success, providing support both inside and outside the classroom. The dedication of the faculty, the vibrant school community, and the emphasis on student well-being make this an exceptional place for learning and growth. We are truly grateful for the impact this school has had on our family!Other Review1y ago9 Reviews - Souder Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe best school I have ever experienced. Often times you won't see teachers leaving the school until 8 at night working on curriculum. The principal is FANTASTIC, she genuinely loves the students and knows most of the students by name. This school goes above and beyond to ensure that each student has supplies to get work done even if the child can't afford them they always ensure that each student has enough. The staff is involved with the families and ensures that Dan Powell is a place where kids can feel safe, and comfortable to try and excel. I don't think anyone could run the school better than Mya Asberry, these kids are getting the absolute best you would not know from the scores, the curriculum or the teachers that this was a title I school. GREAT JOB DAN POWELL!Other Review9y ago6 Reviews - Roy Johnson Sixth Grade Campus

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has ruined me emotionally throughout all of middle school (6,7,8) especially during the end of the year of 8th grade. I was going through a lot friendship wise and stuff at home. I would often cry at school and one time the counselor caught me and she clearly said if I wanted to be with her I am always free to go to her class. Long story short: she kicked me out. Anyways some teachers don't even teach especially the reading teacher in 8th grade. All she does is yell and whenever she does teach she does it in a very lazy way. Students? Absolute racism. Fights happen sometimes. Bad mouthing happens often. Kids there are NOT nice. Anyways i am recovering and I often try to forget and push away these memories. Whenever I think of this school I just start to cry I can't bear the thought of stepping foot inside that school ever again. But a side from the bad stuff my friends I've made along the way really helped me and are still friends with me (one of the actual nice people there <3) Sorry for my bad English.. it's not my first language.Other Review11mo ago2 Reviews - Check out schools near 7401 Ball Rd.

"Nothing really. There are alot of Hispanics so depending on your neighbors they can be very welcoming. My neighbors invite us to birthday parties and all that even though we have never in 2 years talked cuz of the language barrier, yet we still go every year to all her parties. "

"The school district sucks, teachers neglect the kids in a way that they don’t let them go to the restroom and kids will dirty themselves. Also will get engaged with drugs and/or alcohol and principals won’t do anything about it. All they care about is the reputation of the school. "

"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for about 5 years, and things are getting a lot better. There are more people walking their dogs, kids playing on the streets. I love this neighborhood! The neighbors are friendly and we often interact with one another. I wouldn’t leave this place for anything else. It’s homey, and calm without the high prices and still close to downtown. There’s always something to do. Definitely community driven."

"I lived in the neighborhood in the past & recently moved back into the same house a few months ago. My neighbors have always been friendly. Area is quiet with the occational party on a weekend. Not many kids running around. Everyone just does their own thing. "

"Crack heads walking down the middle of the road as if they're invincible, and people having furniture in the front yard to hang out in like it's a living room. It's tacky and it makes the neighborhood look like Detroit."
