3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageStay very far away from this school if you have a child on the spectrum. Their lack of knowledge, training and capabilities for teaching a student on the spectrum is totally mind blowing. The worst part is that they know this and don't care. Their excuse is we don't have the facilities to provide the students with what they need and they send them off to alternative placement. They also rely heavily on the school resource officer to intervene as a method of response to student behavior (and don't inform the parents.) They have no idea how to even perform a functional behavior analysis in order to address any behaviors and develop a successful behavior intervention plan. The administration only cares about covering their own bottoms against any liability or infractions of IDEA. We are very involved in providing the necessary supports to allow our kiddo the best chance of even surviving in this crazy world and this school, staff and administration just proves that ignorance is a lot easier to justify than incompetence. In writing this review I am actually doing the school a favor by trying to detour you from sending your kiddo here but please don't put them through it just to have them do an alternative placement in the end. Trust me we tried and the regression was unbearable. In general the commitment to students at this school is unfathomable. Take a look at their accounting web page and see what the teachers and administration are paid and you will understand what they really care about.Parent Review8mo ago7 Reviews - Check out schools near 740 E Main St.

"Need a vehicle to access most areas of Ottawa. Walking is an option, due to many sidewalks. Ottawa is limited because of only one bridge crossing the Illinois River. The Northeast side of town (where the High School located) is also limited because of only 2 ways in and out. Currently it has only 1 way due to construction. "

"Sometimes there’s a festival or an event that blocks off roads and sometimes you don’t know when they’re happening so it’s a major inconvenience when you try to get to work and there’s a lot of traffic and no one moving. "

"There’s a lot of other dogs so if your dog doesn’t like other dogs just be careful. Everyone picks up after there animals pretty well and most of the dogs are nice. A lot of them end up being aggressive with your dog but other than that it’s a lovely place for your dog. "

"Location cannot be beat. Lovely area filled with unique styles of homes. Not a cookie-cutter development. Quiet, peaceful and friendly. Great mix of people of all ages. Well maintained homes make the North side a sought after location. Believe it or not, there are people who actually did not know this area of Ottawa exists. Close enough to the downtown area if you choose to take a nice walk to the riverfront. Good caring neighbors. Cannot emphasize enough how nice and tranquil it is in this area. Great School District, close to all churches and Ottawa Regional Hospital and Medical Center. Definately a lovely place to live. "
