I went to this school when I first moved to janesville and i love everything about it now my daughter goes her she loves her teacher and loves her friends she is very excited to get to school all the teachers love her.

I used to go to this school. I am going to be 23 in may. I’ve felt it was time to share my story. When I went here I was 12. I was severely bullied to the point where I was jumped and there was also cyber bullying. My mom at the time volunteered in the classroom just to see how I was being treated. My mom went to many different staff members including teachers and the principle but it was never taken serious and nothing was done. The bullying became so severe that I tried to take my own life and I was self harming. I was admitted into the hospital and my mom rushed to the school to demand something be done but even though my life was on the line and I was in the hospital that was not enough for them to take action or take it serious. Immediately after my mom pulled me from the school and I remember how they failed me to this day. When I heard of Ellizabeth Jacobsons story I remember that it sounded just like my story and that that could have been me. RIP to her and my heart goes out to the family.

Aside from a few very caring teachers, the staff is unapproachable. I had a problem with one of the students in my class, so I went to the guidance office to switch classes on the first day of school. As I was explaining my situation with tears in my eyes, the woman at the desk then coldly told me that I have to talk to the principal about it and she would not schedule an appointment with the guidance counselor. I was so upset that I ended up just leaving school and going home. The next day, I asked principal Laue to change classes and he seemed irritated and then told me I could only take a study hall then and wrote in all caps across my whole sheet of paper, “STUDY HALL ONLY.” As I was walking out of his office, I let out a sigh as I have anxiety and I was trying to calm myself down. He shouts after me, “Did you just sigh at me?! I just did you a huge favor!” I’ve been a great student. Always had over a 3.5 GPA and took honors and AP classes and this is how I was treated. Many of the teachers only care about the star athletes and not the students who genuinely care about their education. Bullying is just brushed aside as no one wants to deal with it. As far as the curriculum, it’s standard compared to neighboring schools. Their offering of advanced placement and honors classes is a plus.
