7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience with Alta Vista has been incredibly frustrating, and my student’s experience has honestly been a nightmare — mostly because of constant issues with other students. While there are a few teachers who seem to genuinely care and do a good job, others — especially in 5th grade science and math — often come across as angry at everyone: students, parents, you name it. It doesn’t exactly create a positive learning environment.Discipline feels like a suggestion, not a system. The kids know there aren’t real consequences, and it shows. It’s nearly impossible to focus on learning or doing well academically when the classroom feels chaotic and the same behavioral issues keep happening over and over with no real change.Administration seems focused on one thing: test scores. But it’s hard to produce strong scores when the day-to-day classroom environment is so disruptive. From what I’ve seen and heard, a lot of the dysfunction starts at the top. Instead of addressing the constant distractions, the focus seems to stay on the numbers. If you’re looking for structure, accountability, and a calm place for your child to learn, I’d strongly suggest looking closely before enrolling.Parent Review2mo ago8 Reviews - Sarasota High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended Brookside in 6th and 7th grade. It was a terrible experience and I wish I would have pulled him out sooner. The teachers are stressed and yell at the kids. The staff are not proactive. There are fights regularly. My son was attacked unprovoked twice, which is why we ultimately left. Kids walk around with phones all day. The early care program sells candy and soda - great way for kids to start the day. They do not accommodate 504s and iEPs appropriately or adequately. There are a few specific teachers that are very good and caring. But for the most part, this school represents my biggest mistake.Parent Review7mo ago16 Reviews - Check out schools near 730 Locklear Ave.

"Lots of dog lovers and dog owners walk their dogs multiple times a day. Lots of retirees walking mostly small dogs as there are size restrictions."

"We have great schools in the area. Siesta Key is a safe place with kind neighbors. We are a popular spot and do get slowed down during tourist season, but it’s a small price to pay for living in paradise. "

"Indian Beach/Sapphire Shores is a wonderful, diverse, friendly neighborhood. Beautiful area, much nicer and safer than surrounding areas. I will say that neighbors move in and out too frequently for there to be substantial community, and public transit is accessible but not the best. "

"No place for children to play; apartment housing mostly in the area plus assisted living close by along with gated communities. Mostly area is set up for singles or couples. Not alot of areas for kids to play in ,only walking/biking path for families to utilize. There is a community garden nearby. Have to have a vehicle to grocery shop, banking or pharmacy. "

"Variety of home styles brings in variety of residents, permanent and seasonal. Rules are strict and neighborhood monitors report the smallest of violations, such as leaving your garbage bins out late if you have a long day or putting them out too early, not pruning dried palm fronds immediately, and not planting garden areas to match neighbors. If you are not here full time or are away on vacation you must hire someone to be sure you don’t violate any of the very picky rules. Residents have little use of the club, tennis, pickleball or golf courses without paying exorbitant fees. Having said that, as an elderly woman living alone I feel safe in this development. The safety patrol is responsive and will come 24-7 if you have a concern. Not much of a neighborhood feel."
