I would not recommend Lakewood Ranch High School. The administration consistently fails to communicate important information to parents. For example, a PSAT practice test took place this past weekend, yet there was no notification from the school. only a last-minute post on Facebook the night before. This lack of communication is unacceptable and shows a disregard for parents who are trying to support their students’ education.The principal appears more interested in projecting authority than in ensuring parents are informed and engaged. That tone sets the standard for the rest of the administration, which seems indifferent to the needs of families or the education of the children.Beyond the poor leadership, many teachers struggle to manage student behavior effectively, resulting in classrooms that are often chaotic and unproductive. The level of actual learning taking place is disappointingly low.The school’s strong test scores are likely a reflection of the surrounding community, many families are well-educated and well-resourced, so students receive academic support and enrichment outside of school. That success should not be mistaken for the school’s own effectiveness.It is a shame that a school with such potential is undermined by weak leadership, poor communication, and ineffective classroom management. Parents deserve better, and so do the students.

Both my brother and I attended Nolan after it was advertised to us as a great local middle school. Unfortunately, we both had a terrible experience. From the teachers to the students, we were treated poorly — not because we were disruptive or misbehaving, but simply because people at this school felt the need to target us.While I can’t speak for how things are now, this was our experience. One moment in particular has stuck with me even into adulthood: a teacher singled me out and, while berating me, called me ‘mentally dysfunctional.’ Despite involving administration, this teacher’s behavior continued throughout the year.If you truly care about your child’s well-being and education, I would not recommend sending them to Nolan.

Such a great school. My daughter loved it here, she was excited to go every day and she had no negative experiences. She made friends, learned so much, and it truly was a pleasure to have had her attend. We moved, but we will never forget her short time at this school. It definitely left a positive impact on her education! Also, her teacher was Mrs. Ison (2nd grade) and she was truly wonderful. Very communicative and supportive.
