6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGHS is a great high school for Granbury students. They have a huge array of classes for your child to choose from through their CTE (Career & Technical Education) program! They are focused on helping your student prepare for life in the real world, whether they are thinking of going to college, a tech school and getting right into the work force. Their Honors/AP courses have some truly outstanding teachers and will provide your student with an opportunity to really challenge themselves. Their regular courses are amazing and there are so many opportunities for extra activities like sports, band, etc... Teachers usually keep in touch through progress reports, report cards and will generally communicate any additional information you or your student might need to know. Their campus is large, clean and airy - it's beautifully designed and most classrooms have ample space. Just like other schools - the halls are pretty crowded walking to and from classes, but that's just par for the course at most schools here. The doors open early and your student can com early if they want to hang out with friends, have breakfast and study for classes together. So far, my son is enjoying his time here, making more friends daily and truly appreciates all the teachers and staff here. It's clear to me that they all are working extremely hard to make sure their students have all the support they need to make it through high school and into the real world. I'm also happy to see their security team so actively helping on campus in mornings and afternoons (traffic can be a nightmare, but it would be totally unmanageable without their amazing team). All in all, GHS is a wonderful high school and if you stay active and involved in your child's education, they can thrive here!Parent Review3y ago10 Reviews - Acton Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageActon Middle School was a great experience for my son who transferred mid-year from a state that had students out of school for a long time during Covid. He immediately made friends and was given any extra support he needed to catch up in all of his classes. He was able to transfer to extremely similar classes as compared to his old school (honors courses, art, and tech). Several of his teachers (especially Math and Science!) took time out of their schedules to get him caught up with TEKS requirements for his classes. His new friends really guided him through campus life and culture and accepted him as part of their group immediately. We are extremely grateful to the staff at AMS for making our transition to a new state and school go very smoothly. His teachers kept in touch through reports cards, class reports and were always ready to help and respond to anything. They are a lot of extra activities (sports, band, choir) for your student to be involved in over here. They also make sure to recognize the students who have worked hard on their academics and other activities - they have parties and award ceremonies too. Our experience with the AMS staff was great - everyone was professional, kind and welcoming. Yeah - the halls can be a little crowded moving through, but all Granbury schools are bursting at the seams given the huge growth here. My son has moved onto high school, but stills speaks very highly of AMS, his teachers and friends!Parent Review3y ago5 Reviews - Oak Woods School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot the school or probably district, to be in, with an IEP. Parent concerns will constantly be ignored and because ‘they’re the experts’ will constantly be thrown in your face. It’s slowly burning the light out in my child and I see them giving up more and more everyday. You’ll constantly be told goals are being met, but data is never shown to you and then when goals are not met, they keep it the same instead of re-evaluating using the, just give it time approach. We came to this district with a IEP that they completely threw out the window within 5 days of using it, but it’s probably my own fault letting them manipulate me into signing it away with a ‘you can trust us’ approach, I should have told them no to their PWN and disagreed with it until we could pay an attorney to look at the situation. Now we’ve done nothing but fight to get what little we do have back. When your student fails something, the district has a ‘redo’ policy that is the a fail safe for not providing more help. When the student has a chance to redo, it can bring their grade up to a passing 70-75 and then the district looks like they aren’t letting anyone fail. The problem with this is the student with an IEP has to complete their daily work twice, almost everyday, instead of just getting the help to get it right the first time. What my child sees is, I have to do more work than everyone else and I still can’t get any better of a grade. With learning gaps in my child’s education, they will not back track to make sure my child has a firm foundation, but keeps them in the gen ed class in the hopes they’ll just figure it out on their own and eventually catch up with ‘exposure’ to grade level curriculum. Teachers also don’t grade the students work themselves, students have to pass it to each other to be graded, which then makes room for other kids to comment on my child's consent failing assignments everyday and just another subtle way of beating them down. If you want to start dealing with your child begging to not go to school, become less self confident in themselves and lose the eagerness to learn something new, this district is the place to be.Parent Review2y ago9 Reviews - Check out schools near 721 Rolling Terrace Cir.

"This is not a good place to own dogs or cats. There are no sidewalks to walk your dogs and no vets for any pets that are good for your pets. "

"I live in Pecan Plantation. It’s a manned gated community with 2 runways and 2 golf courses. It’s mostly retired pilots. We love the location, peace and quiet. Downtown Granbury is very nice but too many tourists over there last 5 years. "

"I work remotely but my husband commutes to DFW and it typically takes him 45 minutes each way. There is a train crossing which can lead to long backups that is the only frustration. "

"We live beside the Rough Creek which feeds into Lake Granbury which is around the corner from our house. There is a public boat ramp with fishing pier at the end of our cul de sac. Our neighborhood is also in a bird sanctuary. It’s a very quiet, secluded area and the neighbors watch out for each other."
