10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe leadership at the school and in the district lacks structure and any true concern for the students. The assistant administrator for the freshman is a bully and the principal hides in the office. I have had nothing but bad experiences with the teachers and adminsitrators there. I will say that the harassment is not based in color and gender. It's more about class and social status. For everything my kid loves about this school I can name 5 that I absolutely hate.Parent Review10y ago6 Reviews - Homewood Middle School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI teach in another school system, but live in Homewood and send my kids to HMS. It's a terrific school with a great combination of academic rigor and extracurricular choice. I'm impressed with the quality of instruction and excited about the push to even higher standards. Kudos!Parent Review16y ago2 Reviews - Shades Cahaba Elementary School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot say enough good things about this school. The administration is incredibly thoughtful and competent and stands firm in principle and transparency. The teachers are well-qualified and genuinely love what they do and genuinely love each and every student. The entire staff at Shades Cahaba work to provide a quality education while creating a culture of safety, inclusion, togetherness, kindness and unwavering character. They truly live the Shades Cahaba Way each and every day. I am the Grandmother of an exceptionally bright 4th Grader and an equally bright 2nd Grader who is level 3 on the Spectrum. They are both thriving. The 4th Grader stays challenged thanks to the WIN program. The 2nd Grader has incredible support and is progressing in his IEP. I'm truly grateful and I know they are getting the best education.Parent Review6mo ago7 Reviews - Check out schools near 706 Devon Dr.

"not great but cheap. if you want an area to raise a family you should probably live somewhere else. if you're a young single trying to save money here is fine. "

"Your dog can poop anywhere and you don't have to pick it up because no one else does either. There's dog poop everywhere you can see. "

"My neighborhood is very dog friendly , there’s nothing not to like most dog owners pick up the poop after their dogs so no one has to step in it"

"There are mostly positive interactions between people walking their dogs and other people. There are a lot of “no poop” dog signs in peoples yards. Just watch out for those even if you plan to pick up your dog’s mess. "

"The school system is good. The apartments are pricey. Parking is limited in many areas. Overall this is a safe area to reside in. "

"It’s busy on the main roads in the morning and after 5pm. There are no bus systems for Homewood city schools, so it’s the busiest at the beginning and end of school."

"Ok in city hectic if you live more than 30 minutes out. I live here and work here now so the commute is easy. I be live outside of city limits as well and routinely a 1hour commute could turn into 2 . Constant accidents but if you leave early it’s manageable,"
