I was a student at this school and I have to say it was one of the most stressful situations I have been in in my life. Constant bullying and harassment not helped by the fact the bullies would often be buddy buddy with the teachers. The constant state of panic when you'd do any thing even as little as dropping a pencil the bullying was intense. It wouldn't even be that bad if it wasn't for thr extreme racism that came with it, kid saying hale Hitler and doing the Salut in class as well as saying the same racist jokes over and over agian the colorism it was a LOT. There was also lots of homophobia if you were gay you were immediately seen as weird unless you were a "cool gay"( this is actually something somebody said). I had a girlfriend while I was at this school and the would call us slurs as well as sexualizing us and openly fantasizing abt our body's. You'd be afraid of telling this to the adults because a lot of them knew about the bullying but ignored it and some joined in. Not to mention the nicotine selling and the ableism. There was also an incident were a kid got his nudes leaked and the whole school saw them and they were shared around openly. As well as the 8th graders preying on the 6th graders.All around this school is just the worst and I would never recommend you send your kid here if you cared about there well being.

Dr. Kimberly Bullock, Executive Principal is truly what an educator should look like. She loves her students, her school, her staff, and her community. While the facility is old, she has made it inviting and advocated for it to be in the best condition possible.

I truly wished this school could live up to its potential, especially given its proximity to my home. Unfortunately, it falls far short. For those zoned to this institution, I extend my sincerest sympathies. The school suffers from a pervasive lack of discipline and oversight, with safety seemingly an afterthought. Disturbingly, incidents of violence against both teachers and students occur with alarming regularity, underscoring a deep systemic failure.The administration appears paralyzed by fear of reprisal from the MNPS central office, prioritizing favorable statistics over the well-being of the school community by failing to expel students for violent behavior. Meanwhile, the central office seems more concerned with avoiding litigation from parents, leaving a void of accountability. Students, consequently, often act with impunity, unchecked by any semblance of authority. The result is a chaotic and dysfunctional environment where order and discipline are conspicuously absent.At Hunter's Lane, one encounters a broken system—a confluence of insubordination, rampant violence, drug use, and general lawlessness. The staff, understandably overwhelmed, are left to contend with these challenges in an atmosphere of profound apathy.Having spent a year navigating this deeply flawed environment, I cannot recommend this school to any parent seeking a safe and supportive educational setting for their child. If possible, consider alternative options such as MLK or a private institution. My experience included grappling with issues ranging from physical assaults to classroom chaos where learning is near impossible, all within a system that appears incapable of meaningful reform. My advice: avoid this school if at all possible.
