My child was on the swim team 2 years ago, and was told that they were getting kicked off because of their sexual orientation. But told me, (their mom) that they drew something inappropriate, (it never happened). They also called them down to social services where they got yelled at for their sexual orientation. They also called them down for the rest of their time there just to yell at them about their name changes and other things. The teachers also witnessed bullying of my child and didn’t do anything, my child was discriminated against on multiple occasions.

All 3 soon to be 4 of my children have gone to John Marshall and we all have had a very positive outcome with learning, the environment, and progressing in life skills. Highly recommend.

I'm perplexed by the score of "5" that East has received. I graduated from East about a decade ago, attended a prestigious undergraduate program on the east coast, had a successful early career, and am now completing a graduate degree at MIT. This is not an uncommon trajectory for many of my classmates from East. The GreatSchools rating system can be deeply misleading. I had an academically challenging experience and rewarding social life at East. Think deeply before taking these scores seriously -- they're largely a reflection of test scores and, therefore, likely penalize schools with any significant degree of socioeconomic diversity.
