This school and school district as a whole is very clickish and gives preferential treatment to certain kids and families. If you are not part of the "in" crowd, your kids will be left out of various activities that go intentionally unadvertised and the same kids get picked over and over for school plays and other extracurricular activities. People are afraid to speak up because the teachers can be vindictive and take it out on their kids if they speak up. This school does not teach out of the box and only teaches specifically for the standardized test. They have a "pre-first" grade where students can spend a year after kindergarten and before first grade learning first grade material and maturing another year. When they get in first grade they will have already learned most of that material so they start 2nd grade work and so on. This helps them boost test scores and the children are always a year older than they should be so more mature and able to catch on to the topics easier. There is a huge focus on sports related activities and few enrichment programs. Parents have to wait outside in inclement weather to pick up their kids. You can't speak to teachers without an appointment.

When we moved to the Portsmouth area we were told Wheelersburg had the best schools in the area. Since we have moved to Wheelersburg, that has been proven correct. All three schools have gone above and beyond to help and make our children feel welcome.
