"I don’t’ live in a neighborhood. I live on a 10-acre ranch outside of Wimberley center. I like it. I love the dark skies. It feels a bit isolated to me since there aren’t and music venues with the kind of music I like (alternative, post punk, indie rock etc, like you’d find in Austin or Dallas), and I find most of the residents here to be too straight laced. Wimberley is considered an “artsy place” by many, but that’s only if your idea of art is floral paintings, and country apparel. It’s art geared toward tourists. Not for lovers of contemporary art. Aside from many cultural shortcomings it is beautiful, with lots of great hiking and swimming. Everyone I’ve met here is nice, and at lest tolerant, which these days, seems like a miracle. "
  • Monique Ortiz
"I work from home. So I don’t commute. I frequently drive to Austin via 290. Depending on the time of day it can be a grind, with all the roadwork, but tolerable I reckon."
  • Trulia User
"People keep to themselves I appreciate that. Don’t come over to say hello or anything like that and I hope it stays that way."
  • Ashley R.
"We just moved here so we aren’t yet aware of all the events, but there is a great local spring that we swim at and local bingo near our neighborhood. We have a small dog park for the dogs too which is nice to have. All the neighbors are incredibly friendly and have been welcoming so far. "
  • Dora G.
"I live in a neighborhood that is five minutes away from where I work. I can go anywhere in ten minutes. H-E-B , Ace are some places I go to get food and supplies. "
  • Harris
"45 minutes into town. There isn’t public transportation but that’s one of the many reasons why I love it here! "
  • Linzyb406
"There are always events hosted at local spots like Blue Hole or Emily Ann. There’s always Christmas on The Square, and Santa show up in an old-fashioned truck. The town also hosts a trick or treat on the square where local businesses setup booths and give out candy to kids. Ace Hardware hosts street dances and margarita nights for the community."
  • Ctrup1
"I’m fairly new here, but love the friendliness and more trees than Austin area. I do feel safe here, and have met many very talented people."
  • Kaler S. K.
"High property taxes, but overall a very small town feel with some big city options. We just got an HEB not to long ago woohoo!!!"
  • Anna T
"I drive into Austin every day, so my commute is pretty long and intense. It takes about 1.5 hours each way. "
  • Dora G.
"Just friendly people and feels safe to live here. Many friends around, I haven’t heard of neighborhood events."
  • Dillan92
"the beautiful views and scenery. the rolling hills with trees and Blanco river . Birding is awesome in the spring and fall. fawns playing around while their mother watches. and big 8 to 10 point bucks walking in your backyard in a bachelor group. Peaceful out of town."
  • Dillan92
"I been around Wimberley for a long time, very long time... Seen the small town growing ever larger. I can remember when there was no traffic lights. Anyway, it's the beautiful views and wildlife that makes it special. And the flowing creeks and Blanco river that causes a relaxing atmosphere ."
  • Januaryliz
"Deer The Back Porch The Lodge at Cypress Creek Cypress Creek Open mic night Karaoke Wimberley Leaning Pear "
  • Cynthia M.
"We are members of a fabulous community 5 acre spring-fed river park. We have the best swimming hole with limestone bottom and clear water in the area. "
  • kdtktexas
"Wimberley is a great place to live. Lots of things to do, places to shop, things to get involved in. When you get tired of small town living you also have Austin and San Antonio close by for your cultural, shopping or nightlife fix. Wimberley is a small village, with a small village feel. When you go to a football game the kids run around without parents having to worry for their safety. It really does take a village here. I've seen a large number of clubs where people can get involved helping others or just having fun. There are a variety of churches available. The schools are great and the parents are involved. It's just a great place to live. Just remember that people in Wimberley drive at their own speed."
