I would encourage everyone to use the new and long overdue ESAs (empowerment scholarship funds, they are NOT vouchers) to go to a private school where obviously you'll have a more safe, protected and stronger learning environment. We had to remove our daughter from this school due to bullying and real threats of violence, including from a parent of one of the other kids at the school. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe front office staff at Horizon High School are, without question, some of the most rude and unwelcoming individuals I have ever encountered in an educational setting. From the moment we arrived as a new family, there was zero warmth, zero professionalism, and absolutely no effort made to make us feel welcome.When I attempted to call and have issues resolved, the communication was nonexistent. Phone calls were not handled properly, concerns were dismissed, and I was left with nothing but frustration and zero resolution.What is most disturbing is that the office staff apparently feel it is acceptable to YELL at students. These are children. Adults in a school setting are supposed to lead by example — that is the bare minimum expectation. Yelling at students is not discipline, it is a failure of professionalism and basic decency.I would not recommend Horizon High School to any new family — not even close. If the first faces and voices representing this school treat students and families this way, it speaks volumes about the environment as a whole. The staff and principal are very communicative, which helps a lot in the crazy world we live in. I feel my kids are safe and in good hands. "We have dogs and we love the dog stations around the neighborhood that supply poop bags and a receptacle for full poop bags. That helps keep the area clean. Also, there are plenty of nice sidewalks so you don’t have to walk on the road. So much safer!"

"My family has lived here since 1999 and we find everything a family or people at any age could want. Great public schools, clean, safe, friendly neighborhoods, easy highway access and numerous restaurants and entertainment locations within a few miles. Many of the major hospitals supporting Phoenix are located within a few miles; Mayo (2), Paradise Valley (5), and Scottsdale (10). Many miles of trails supporting hiking and biking. At one time this was a road bikers paradise ... not so much now with all the traffic developed north of our location."

"My third sale in Boulder Creek. What a delightful pocket community snugged up against the Mountains, yet immediate access to the 101 and 51 for fast transportation to Scottsdale, downtown Phoenix or, well, anywhere. Happy community of friendly neighbors who love living around an elementary and junior high school which are the center of the planned community. Costco a mile away, tons of shopping, especially Desert Ridge Regional Shopping Center is one exit away."

"I've lived in the neighborhood for several years and love the mountain reserve close by for walking and hiking, appreciate the community involvement with neighbors and love the easy access to the freeway as well as Desert Ridge and City North for shopping, dining and entertainment."
