Listen, the school tries to their best and I understand it's not easy dealing with kids. But the experience I had when it came to my son was borderline ridiculous. Getting him an IEP? That felt like I was beating a brick wall. Minimal engagement, it took two years to even get anywhere, it shouldn't have felt like I was gearing up for a war but that's what it felt like. It was a source of anxiety. I remember coming in for a meeting and hearing my child SCREAMING. And they said, "Oh he's fine it's normal for him".My son was constantly sent home for the stupidest reasons, they just didn't want to deal with him, he's a bright little boy, who has struggles just like everyone else. But the night and day difference in him since he's left that school is crazy. One of the Kindergarten teachers had seen nothing positive in my son, it felt like she made it her hobby to go out of her way to show how horrible he was. The hundreds of messages going into detail about how awful he was, every little behavior was a problem. I think he spent more time in that office than the classroom, even the secretary felt it was ridiculous.I had to drag my son through that entire school, kicking and screaming, with ZERO help from teachers, in front of all the students and teachers. My eldest son had to witness this as well. What are they doing to my son that he is this horrible? I don't know but the fact I have paperwork that they had to restrain him AFTER he was given an IEP, has me questioning every little thing they could have done to my little boy to make him act out so horribly. I question this because we put him into another school and he has THRIVED. If your child is Special Needs I wouldn't feel safe with these people. They see their behavior as a problem not as a reason.ARC was quick to give me an advocate because of how horrible Bangor is when it comes to giving IEPs. They will use every excuse as to why your child doesn't need it. He's too smart for an IEP, so what he needs to be "stupid" for an IEP?? My son is Autistic and has ADHD, and he needs support. He deserves it.My personal experience with this school was highly traumatizing just by how much they fought against me instead of working with me to get my son the help he deserved. My son is a human being, he deserves to learn and grow just like any other child in that school.

I went here for 2 short months. I was suspended for most of it because the principle and all the staff don't know how to deal with a child having a mental breakdown. The second someone starts crying they call the police and make it so it's not there problem. I get that I am not the best student. But they didn't even let me use my 504 plan without giving me a detention or suspension. I was getting threats that 5 guys were going to jump me throughout 2 weeks of that school. I am a girl jsyk. I even had a large strong dude get up in my face and i got suspended and he got away with it.
