Neighborhood Description

El Cerrito was originally founded by refugees from the 1906 Earthquake and is now one of the Bay Area's best kept secret. With it's close proximity to San Franciso via 2 BART stops and the Casual Car Pool, Solano Avenue in Albany and Berkey for restaurants and shopping, and Wild Cat Canyon amoung many other parks and recreation areas, El Cerrito is a great place to call home. There is an incredible amount of desirable housing stock, much of which is in the hills while still being a short distance to public transportation and BART. Many of those hill homes offer the most spectacular views of the Bay, Bridges, Cities, and Mount Tamalpais that you will find anywhere in the Bay Area. El Cerrito is a friendly place and a manageable size. It has a wonderful new city Hall where you can go and speak to public officials and not feel like you are dealing with thousands of layers of buerocracy like you'd find in the larger cities nearby. There are some very good elementary schools where parental involvement is encouraged.
6938 Fairview Dr, El Cerrito, CA 94530 is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2,612 sqft single-family home built in 1949. It last sold for $700,000 on Oct 3, 2012. This property is not currently displayed as for sale or rent on Trulia. The Trulia Estimate is $1,372,300, with a rent estimate of $4,683/month.

"Easy. A brisk 10 min walk from home to the Bart station and then 33 min into the city. Walking route feels save and is flat for the most part. Only a slight uphill."
  • Kpowell927
"People walk their dogs and people rarely hold dog owners accountable for cleaning up after their dogs; so if youโ€™re a lazy dog owner who doesnโ€™t care about other peopleโ€™s space youโ€™re in luck. "
  • Jester S.
"Thereโ€™s plenty of dog parks. A walking path. Or quite a few nice sized playgrounds. "
