NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBCHS strives for a welcoming and safe environment for everyone. The students feel comfortable and safe. The bullying that happens is minimal because it is addressed and reported the moment it happens when it is caught. The class sizes are small compared to other schools, which facilitates the learning process for all students. Classes have a mix of high functioning students that are challenged academically as well as students who are behind in their learning and are caught up at a reasonable pace. We have a well versed staff and provide students with after school work programs as well as in school mental / socio-emotional services. Teachers and staff are in constant contact with families.Admin, namely, Llermi and Tutti have challenged me as a teacher in ways that has helped me grow. I may not agree with everything that they say but their constructive criticism has been respectful for me and has helped me improve as a teacher. They welcome teacher feedback so they can grow as well. I have noticed a positive change in their growth as leaders over the years that I've taught here as often self-reflective people do. We have a diverse population of students. We also have a growing population of English Language Learners (Spanish speaking). All students enjoy the clubs and monthly celebrations we have which help foster community. I welcome any student that is serious about learning, parents who are engaged and communicate with staff, and any teacher that wishes to leave a lasting impact with a strong community of teacher and staff.Teacher Review1y ago4 Reviews - Evergreen Middle School-Urban Exploration

"I wouldn’t own a dog here because space is limited for most people. That being said, there are plenty of parks to walk to. "

"The commute is quick to Manhattan. Neighbors look out for each other. In the 1970s there were fires that swept through bushwick and threatened to destroy the neighborhood. However neighbors got together and took care of each other. There are community centers and gardens that are open to ALL. "

"My neighborhood is like any neighborhood. It can be a hit or miss depending on the area you are located. Most of it is populated by hispanics and slowly being gentrified some love the change while others are still stuck on the past. "
