I have two children and both have gone to Wilkesboro Elementary School. I can say first hand that if it was not for the caring, teachers and principal at this school that my son wouldn't have come as far as he has. When my son first came to Wilkesboro Elementary he could not speak two words, my son has autism. My son was mainstreamed into regular classrooms with his peers. He is now in the 4th grade, making leaps and bounds. I take my hat off to all the teachers and the principal. I can tell you that this school is a school of excellance. There is not another school in the state that has anything on WES!! god bless

The teachers and staff are great but I feel that punishments for certain offenses should be harsher. First off as a transgender student I have experienced harassment on multiple occasions from students. Second, the students that do cause trouble for either students or teachers should not have a slap on the wrist like ODR (Office Discipline Referral) or MIR (Minor Incident Referral) and should instead have a punishment that teaches the student to actually behave like a regular person. Third, I feel like they should do better background checks on students and teachers to decide who best benefits the people around them and their self.
