My kids have attended Hydesville Elementary for a long time. We have had a positive experience with virtually every teacher here. As with any place in a community, there will be conflicts, but if you are an engaged parent who supports your children and is willing to communicate with teachers, your child will do well here. The students are well mannered for the most part and the school’s parent group makes lots of fun things happen throughout the year. There is a strong emphasis on academics, and the work load in middle school can be a bit intense for some. Be ready to support your child when transitioning to 6th grade. The teachers will guide the kids, but they don’t do handholding at this level. When students graduate, they are totally prepared (if not a bit ahead) for Fortuna High. I would definitely recommend the school to anyone who is ready to be an active participant in their child’s education.

I attended FUHS for my senior year of high school and I really liked it. The class sizes were smaller than I was used to, which gave me more access to the teachers if I needed it. Because of the school size and layout, getting to my classes on time was easy. The discipline and consequences for breaking school rules was fair and realistic. The school spirit and love of extracurricular activities was phenomenal! Overall a wonderful experience for my final year of high school!
