Maplewood was once a great district, but it seems to have struggled to keep up with the changing times. The offerings for kids—classes, clubs, and sports—are limited. Several teachers have retired, but positions remain unfilled, despite the consistent spending on education. When teachers leave for other schools, they often aren’t replaced, leading to a noticeable decline in educational quality. The education that they are recieving honestly doesn't change. Some of the same assignments that I remember from my childhood, my kids are doing as well. The kids sometimes don't want to learn because teachers are given out packets; students read and teach themselves. You should want more for your student and community The issue of bullying continues to be a problem, seemingly overlooked as the school tries to manage dwindling attendance numbers. The number of students enrolled has significantly dropped, especially as kids transition to high school.Additionally, the school lacks diverse electives, which is a concern for students looking to explore different interests. It’s not uncommon for seniors to find themselves in classes with freshmen simply due to a lack of available electives. As well, the salaries the board of education makes are high, and some should be given to our students instead.
