Citrus Middle School is a disaster zone. Kids are lighting up and vaping almost daily in bathrooms and hallways, and teachers don’t really act—they just suspend students, which is practically an invitation for more misbehavior since they're off campus and out of institutional control. Teachers themselves can be harsh, dismissive, and overbearing—privately talking down to students and even holding grudges instead of teaching. Meanwhile, students endure relentless bullying and frequent fights with little support; reporting incidents might lead nowhere. And the administration’s responses feel tone-deaf—like removing cell phones across the board “because of fights,” as though banning phones stops violent behavior, instead of dealing with root issues. To top it all off, the dress code is enforced arbitrarily: girls seem to draw the brunt of it while rules are relaxed for boys. It's no small wonder that many families and students look elsewhere for a safer and more respectful learning environment.

I don't take kindly to anyone overstepping their boundaries. How I choose to dress, feed, and celebrate my kid is my prerogative. The school looks like a prison, and their rules are ridiculously restrictive. Mind you, my kid is an over achiever academically, and has never had any disciplinary issues at school. Which makes it even more frustrating for me having to abide by the ridiculousness that is this school. Having attended Sheridan for their TK program, it's shame to have ended up in this polar opposite situation.
