Description

Welcome to this renovated mid-century contemporary in highly sought-after Bannockburn with 4 bedrooms and 3 updated bathrooms. This dramatic home has been extensively renovated, blending light-filled interior spaces and dramatic modern design with the natural exterior landscape. This sun-drenched residence offers a dual sided fireplace, 4 skylights, generous room sizes, and tasteful architectural details throughout. Enter into a welcoming two-story foyer with decorative display nooks and an open closet. The bright living room has a fireplace, a picture window, recessed lighting, a storage closet, and opens to the delightful screened-in porch with fantastic backyard views. The light-filled dining room has a dual sided brick fireplace, modern lighting fixture, and opens to the kitchen and the living room. The thoughtfully designed chef’s kitchen is highlighted by gorgeous wood cabinetry with mini glass subway tile backsplash and solid surface counters, a Bosch stainless steel appliances suite, a breakfast bar, pendant lighting, a five-burner gas cook-top with a stainless-steel exhaust hood, excellent prep space, and both a walk-in pantry and separate pull-out pantry cabinet. Off the kitchen is a cozy family room with wood tile flooring, tongue and groove ceiling, and a perfect office nook. There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms on the main level, including the primary bedroom suite with a large walk-in closet, recessed and overhead lighting, and a private renovated full bathroom with a marble vanity, a glass enclosed shower with a recessed nook, colorful glass tile accents, a towel warmer and porcelain tile walls. The main level is complete with a laundry room and a coat closet. Upstairs are two bright bedrooms with tree-top views and an updated dual entry bathroom. The beautiful grounds provide a serene and private setting with a fenced backyard, stone accents and beautiful flagstone patio, mature and colorful plantings (hydrangeas, a fig tree, and red flowering climbing vines), and a shed. The enchanting, screened porch has a gabled roof with a ceiling fan and is the perfect spot for entertaining or relaxing! Fabulous location - This house sits on what's called "the hook" of E Halbert, a quiet cul de sac that is the venue for communal basketball games and street block parties including an annual Halloween potluck. The Bannockburn Swim Club and Clubhouse just down the street is the jewel of the community, which houses a nursery school, community events and a lovely playground. Great location – close to Glen Echo Park, the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath, and Downtown Bethesda. Easy access to River Road, Massachusetts Avenue, Clara Barton Parkway, the GW Parkway, Chain Bridge, I-495, and just minutes to DC.

  • Devere Kutscher
"Lots of green space, access to parks, trails, and excellent public schools. While many areas have sidewalks, some don’t, and it can be dangerous for small children to ride their bikes."
  • Anonymous
"People are very pretentious - you are what you drive. Lots of high income people who have an inflated sense of self importance."
  • DVK
"Lived here for 4 years and enjoy the peace and quiet…but also the proximity to the city. It feels isolated, despite being minutes to everything."
  • DVK
"Very leafy, quiet and private, with lots of green space and good schools nearby. It’s also located near major shopping and commercial area, but feels much more isolated."
  • DVK
"Many families with children in the area, great schools, and wide streets that are good for biking. One minus is that many areas lack sidewalks."
  • Unspecified

  • Heather Bryn
"One of the best places to raise a family. Opportunity to raise your children in near the nations capital, and grow up in a culturally diverse community. Bethesdas public and private schools are some of the best in the nation. "

"People are very focused on what you do and if you are a doctor. Lovely area for dog walking and meeting many dog owners. "
  • Trulia User
"I work from home, so there is no commute. However, commuting into the city is easy, and so is accessing Northern Montgomery County and Northern Virginia via the Beltway nearby."

  • Carine N.
"Good neighborhood friendly people and great food! Thank you, Bethesda, I love living here. Blah blah "
  • Rob B.
"Bethesda is a great neighborhood. Unfortunately the small business owners are being pushed out by the the larger corp. that have bought up so much real estate. Rents are very high and commercial rent is as well. Sadly it is slowly losing its neighborhood charm and it will soon look like every other cookie cutter block with all the same large corporation businesses. There is a homeless shelter that’s not well advertised on Cordell ave & Wisconsin Ave so you will see people begging for money on the regular. Great access to I459, the Metro and DC if that’s seen as a plus for you. "
  • Katherine A. A.
"Really quick drive to work, some annoying/entitled and rude drivers but I’m from the south so not used to it"
  • Jessica E.
"People are out walking their dogs all the time! People are friendly and so are most dogs! Lots of trails nearby"
  • Chloe g
"I drive to Gaithersburg for work. It’s very convenience with being able to park right at my building and access it via elevator. "
  • CMC
"Neighborhoods are tree-lined and have aged well aesthetically. Homes and properties are typically well-cared for. Lots of people out walking dogs or jogging in afternoon and evening. "
  • Liz
"Lack of dog runs and parks is a minus but many people have friendly dogs and take care of the area. Loads of shops for their needs"
  • Shijudevarajan
"Calm and quite lively neighborhood with park, groceries shop and whatever you need all in walkable distance!"
  • Michael
"Excellent commute. Walkable living makes things accessible in the neighborhood from stores to restaurants "
  • Javier D
"I either take the Metro or walk to work. There is a trail that leads straight to the gate of Walter Reed but the snow can interfere. "
  • Sinhavikas
"Bethesda row has everything, metro stop, grocery stores, shopping and restaurants. You do not need to have car in this neighborhood if you don’t want to."
