Description

This conveniently located 1839 Greek Revival in historic Salem Village is half a mile from I-95 and US-1, close to St John's Prep, and walking distance from Highlands Elementary, Endicott Park, and just minutes from the North Shore shopping destinations. This home has original wide pine flooring and working fireplaces in most of the rooms. In 2006 the home was gutted down to the studs to effect a full remodel, with upgrades such as blown-in cellulose insulation on all levels including the ceilings, a new electrical service and new wiring throughout, new plumbing, a high efficiency gas heating system, and central air conditioning. The former attic space has been converted to a bedroom suite, which includes a full bath and office space. There are three full size bedrooms on the second floor with closets, which is a rare feature in an old home. The generously sized second floor bath features a travertine marble floor, double slipper tub, standalone shower, and a pocket door for privacy in the lavatory. This level also has a full-size linen closet and a 'poison' closet for cleaning necessities. The first floor is comprised of the kitchen, dining room, living room, and a room that could be used as a bedroom (has closet), office, or library. The custom kitchen has granite countertops and stainless appliances including a 48" Bertazzoni gas range as well as an under-counter convection oven. The kitchen opens out to the large backyard with rock wall on the left and rear property lines, and a custom cedar fence on the right. The property has three raised garden beds, a fenced in garden plot, and a sizable henhouse with a 24' enclosed run. The dry basement has a concrete floor with a French drain system. The large driveway can house up to 6 cars. There is also an unfinished two level bonus space off the rear of the kitchen which historically was used by the original owner as a shoe shop. This is set up for a butler's pantry, an office overlooking the backyard and gardens, and is plumbed for a full bath and laundry center. Last but not least is the detached garage, perfect for a carpenters workshop or any of your tools.
This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Trulia. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
