I moved during Covid so my son met a whole new group of people during remote learning. He adjusted very well. The teachers are engaging and very helpful to needs of everyone. 8th grade he really got to shine back on campus and really enjoyed school.

We had two kids attend Sakamoto for 6 years total. The teachers at Sakamoto really shine; each year my kids would say they liked their teacher better than the year before. The teachers are engaged, creative and really try to make it fun and interesting for the students. I felt like they worked hard to meet the very different needs of all of the students in class. Now that we are in a new school district, my kids say they liked the teachers at Sakamoto better than where we are now.The classes were relatively packed and my kids routinely had over 30 students in their class. They have a strong special education department which I suspect makes the student/teacher ratio look better than it is in the mainstream class. Sakamoto has a lot of combo classes, which did not work for us. On the other hand, the staff definitely knew who we were and we did not feel lost in the crowd. The secretary and school nurse were patient and helpful, whether it was a forgotten lunch being delivered or a kid who needed to come home sick. We feel like our kids got a good education here and felt safe from bullying and other negative social influences. The PTO is very strong and engaged and we enjoyed activities such as outdoor movie nights and the Harvest Festival. I would not hesitate to send my kids to Sakamoto again.

I have two teenagers attending Santa Teresa High School, and I can honestly say I've been very pleased with their school experience. It’s a great school overall, with a diverse student body, is a well-maintained campus, and while there is a noticeable pressure to maintain strong grades, it seems to motivate the students if anything to keep up with their peers. Like with anything in life you have to pay your dues, and being in high school is no different. If you study and put in the work your grades will reflect that. Students with failing grades may not be fully utilizing their resources correctly or are in need of some type of special education accommodation. From what I see many of the students at S T consistently perform well academically. I’ll admit that the homework load can be somewhat heavy, sometimes comparable to what I experienced in college, but it’s all part of preparing them for what is to come in the future.The guidance counselors are very friendly and knowledgeable. Any time I emailed their counselor she replied really quickly and was always happy to help. Both my teens are excelling in school and have great grades. Looking back, I’m really glad we decided to move to the blossom valley neighborhood and invest in the home, as the education they’ve received has been absolutely worth it. Initially, I considered sending them to Valley Christian, but after hearing so many positive stories from other parents whose kids had gone to Santa Teresa, I felt confident in my decision. Santa Teresa High School has set up my kids for success, so I highly recommend it. The neighborhood its located in is very nice too with a beautiful view of the hills. :O)
