Students academics are below national level. They do not put enough emphasis on STEM. Just enough to meet minimum state common core requirements. It's become more and more overcrowded/overpopulated. Crime, drugs, and bullying has only gotten worse. With at least 3-5 fights per day and 1-3 bomb threats every week. My child's self-esteem and grades have suffered tremendously. I regret not removing her from this environment sooner.

I salute the faculty and students of Northwest Rankin for the respect and compassion they have shown for Katelyn Simspon !!! I have spent a career that has allowed me to witness the very best and the very worst of mankind. Your allowing Katelyn to campaign for Homecoming Queen was absolutely righteous! And to the students who voted for her and helped her win ... I love you all !!! YOUR AMAZING !!!! You ALL can be proud of yourselves, proud of your school, and proud of your community. I salute you !!! SEMPER FIDELIS!!! SEMPER!!!!

As a parent, I want to share our experience to help other families make informed decisions. Unfortunately, my child did not feel respected or supported at this school as a member of a minority background.He experienced bullying from other students, and what concerned me the most was the lack of effective intervention when the situation was brought to the attention of teachers. In our experience, the issue was often minimized rather than properly addressed.I also spoke with other parents who shared similar experiences, and in many cases there was never an opportunity for a meeting between parents to address the situation together. While the school counselor attempted to smooth things over between students, the underlying problem was never truly resolved.It seemed that the school prioritized achieving high state test scores over ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. Despite the challenges, my child remained strong and achieved excellent academic results, earning top grades and excelling on state tests a true testament to his resilience in a very difficult environment.Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported at school. Sadly, my child still remembers this experience, and it had a lasting impact on how he felt about being in that environment. I hope the school continues working to improve how bullying and inclusion are addressed so that all students feel valued.
