"My wife and I moved here from urbania mania. In 4 years I've only heard 2 people honk at someone at a stop light. common to see 2-3 pick-ups at side of road just to chat w/ friends. Life moves as fast or slow here as you want. If culture you seek Springfield is an hour away with symphony concerts, etc., and Branson is a 1.5 hr drive. The house we have for sale has tranquil vistas and is very private. Our Lab mix dog had the run of the land. She only wore a collar when we went to town. Since this is a small town with several generations of inhabitants, we found the best way to gain friends and get into the back yard BBQ's was to attend a church. The community welcomes new people if the new people seek involvement. No real crime here and you don't see graffiti. You hear "yes sir & mam" from most teenagers. We have counted 28 species of birds from the deck, and both Blue 'bird boxes are full every spring. We moved here as our children were transitioning from college to jobs or grad school. Our ropes have lost a lot of knots, and now that we have some Grandchildren we want to move closer to them."
