I have a son who has attended KGHS for 3 years and has done exceptionally well. The teachers are incredibly responsive to parents as in responding to emails or voicemails the same day! The curricula is varied and there are lots of AP and duel enrollment options. There are also some free after school tutoring resources. The sports facilities are very good, they have the best football stadium for several counties around, and school spirit is high. The musical program is one of the best in the Commonwealth of Virginia. My son has a handicap and the school has been very proactive in seeing what they can do to help him, as in they ask me, not me chasing them. All in all the experience has been quite good. I think the 'equity' rating of the school is on par with other schools nationally, therefore if you adjust for that the 'Great Schools' rating would be (and should be) significantly higher. Perhaps there could be a few more after school club options for kids, but you can't have it all. You can feel good about putting your child in this school.

So I don't know why some of the reviews are so bad because for me, this school has been great. I guess your experience varies for different people. Some good thing about this school is that your teachers can either be your best friend or the worst teacher you've ever had. They're most likely gonna be your best friend if you just do your work and laugh at the cringy jokes they say and stuff. The worst thing about this school would probably be what some of the kids do. Some kids vape and stuff. If you're a snitch or just really annoying most of them will hate you. On a happier note you'll make some great friends and that one really close friend that will get you both in trouble for laughing. ANYWAYS I think the school's nice.

We are a military family that has experienced a lot of schools. Sealston is one of the better schools my kids have attended. Except for a couple of the teachers most of the teachers love the children and work hard to have a safe positive learning experience for the children. Since my kids have started at Sealston in 2020 I’ve noticed improvements every year.
