"It took me seven years to find a home in southwest Michigan, and the winner was Buchanan. Safe, quiet, walkable, friendly, entertaining, and bicycle-friendly, Buchanan boast a historic downtown, with many brick structures dating back to the 1850s. This is a highly-walkable town, with sidewalks in most locations and large canopies of shade trees. A large portion of the north and west sides of town are designated on the National Register Historic District. I like drinking the wonderful tap water - first class! As an avid recreational bicycle rider, it's great to ride the neighborhoods, the farm field roads, breathing in fresh, crisp air. Walking or riding the McCoy Creek Trail, which runs from the northeast side of town, then meanders about 2 or more miles in a southwestern direction, ending just south of a Nature Conservancy-protected marsh, complete with a wooden viewing tower.. So peaceful, wildlife scurrying across the path. Few sounds other than nature so it's a wonderful place to relfect, observe, or simply take in. Buchanan is a great place to raise a family with neighborhood parks. I've found paradise in Buchanan!"
  • JeffreyNV
"Nil crime rate, safe to walk, clean neighborhoods and water, plenty of parks and Buchanan High School Rated 8 (out of 10) by GreatSchools.org. Nearby Lake Michigan College and Southwestern Michigan College extensions make higher learning affordable too."
  • mcneely2
"I was raised here, and left 1992.. My Mom is still here, and its a great location for kids. Walk to Elementary, Jr. High, and High School. Best hill to slide on in the winter is across the street. Dead End rd. not much traffic. This house is so close to the High School, that 10' to the south of driveway is "Drug Free School Zone" sign. I will be moving back to this house in 2013! Love me some Buchanan Michigan... What a great community to raise a family. "
  • Davidwah
