Boothbay Elementary is a very good school. The teachers and support staff make every day a new adventure. The school is a fun and secure environment for all the students. The community as a whole offers so many activities for the kids and they take great pride in their sports, music, drama and other after school programs. There are always teachers available to stay after and help if a student needs a little extra attention to get caught up. The YMCA has fantastic facilities and being just across the street from the school makes it super easy for parents who work to know that the kids are safe and having fun after school, until a parent can get there to pick them up. The school is a perfect reflection of the caring community of Boothbay. A wonderful place to live and grow up.

First off, I love Boothbay. But for many reasons I wouldn't recommend this school. If you're good in school, and leave, and even mention that school that you're going to is a bit better, everyone will say that you can do just as well in Boothbay if you try harder. Promising? No. So basically you have to rise above the average student in order to succeed. Although it sounds at first like a great initiative, if you think about it, kids and teachers are basically just saying the school sucks and you need to thrive in that kind of environment in order to do good things. Aka go to a Community College. The school has potential but it needs more teachers that haven't lived in the area their whole lives and are used to the student's lifestyle. Drugs, sex, etc. are things that any honest student would joke to you "Oh yeah, that stuff happens in the hallways there." Also "I don't know why teachers said High School would be hard, it's so easy here." Both things I've heard. So yes, if you want to learn to succeed in bad environments, this is the place for you. But why not rise above the average student at a school where the average student is on Honor Roll? Also, other schools that I've been to have been up to 4 grades higher than what's being taught at Boothbay. The only thing I learned here was how to become tough and stay away from people that you shouldn't hang out with.

Georgetown Central is a terrrific school! The classroom sizes are small, which means the kids get the attention and focus from the teachers that will help them excel. My daughter went to Kindergarten here and loved her teacher. The children were given a great approach to learning which helped for all learning types. The principal, staff and faculty are terrific and the schools approach to health and creating an environment where the children learn also by experience is fantastic. The school has a no soda policy, which only promotes children to live healthy lifestyles. They also have a garden which the cultivate their school lunches for and they also build a sailboat as a 6th grade project. I highly recommend this school and I was very sad to have to move away from Georgetown. We miss the school very much and wish more schools could learn from GCS's example -DMB
