Poorly, they cannot handle children who are easily excited. They single the child out and punish him by making them sit in the office all day with nothing productive to do.

I can’t say enough positive things about this building or the staff. I love seeing all of the parents at the award assemblies. I’m not sure what’s different this year, but clearly parents want to be in this building. Activities are more packed than the other schools my kiddos attend. Harrisonville Elementary is positioned for great things.

Honestly, pretty decent. I went to Sherwood Marksmen before Harrisonville, and compared to Sherwood, it is way better. Far more opportunity, whether it be for a class or just something to do from the school. Plenty of sports and activities, too.Though, be warned that a lot of the students here are at least slightly toxic, thus bringing it down to 4 stars.

We moved to Harrisonville schools from the suburbs of Chicago when my children were entering 6th and 7th grade. Where we were from, middle school began in 7th, so both of my children were making the transition at the same time in different grades. HMS has been a breath of fresh air on almost all counts. We previously had come from an extremely test-driven district, but in Harrisonville, we've found the teachers to be more experiential and adaptive int heir teaching approach, which has kept my children excited about coming to school each day. When I go to parent teacher conferences, it is also evident that most teachers see my children for the individuals they are and not a grade in their grade book and they are open to collaborating with us on ways to challenge and advance our kids. Class sizes are smaller, which have allowed my kids to get to know their teachers better as well. I had heard rumors of a bullying environment at the school, but we check in with our kids often and they have no complaints/ concerns there either.
