My grandson has been here 2 years; he doesn't want to leave his friends so he will remain as long as he is excited to go to school. HOWEVER, they are quick to take care of the teachers over the students. The teachers work out of a mental box and receive zero guidance from anybody. thanks UNION!I had to get my student tested that resulted in an IEP. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY I GET THE TEACHERS TO ACCOMMODATE HIM. It's been frustrating as they do not like to hear from parents; while they speak about parent support, they do not allow much contact with the teachers. The teachers are overwhlemed and very busy. They just migrated students into this population from a recently closed school so it's getting worse with classroom size and limited communication. They do serve WORD salad here in large portions. Teachers complain if a child goes on the computer in their classroom suggesting they have no class control. When I have basically begged for support so I can support Braxton they have blank stares and zero input. Choose a charter school before friends are made and make sure they support communication.

Review of Tavan Elementary SchoolI want to share my experience with Tavan Elementary School, which is often regarded as one of the top public schools in Arizona. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Despite high expectations, the support for students was severely lacking. My son faced unhelpful and even aggressive behavior from the principal, and the assistant principal’s response was often limited to issuing suspensions rather than providing genuine support. The social worker, who should have been a source of help, instead contributed to the issue by not engaging effectively and simply escorting him to the office.In contrast, after we withdrew him and enrolled him in a new school, the difference was night and day. He is thriving, and the environment is supportive, friendly, and understanding. There have been no issues, and he is flourishing academically and socially. This contrast highlights how vital proper support and communication are for students.In summary, while Tavan Elementary may have a good reputation, our experience shows that there are significant areas for improvement in how they support and treat their students.
