7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have been enrolled within the laschools district for approximately 10 years and actually have felt very comfortable and confident in the schools till 2022. I do not recommend attending this high school or the corresponding middle school. However, previously a virtual option to attend was available, I am no longer aware if this is an option as the school website is not functioning for the topper virtual academy category. If this option is available, I recommend that as in previous years I've felt very comfortable in the online school. Additionally, this review is based off as a student how I feel and certain aspects may be the NMPED responsibility. I also don't like that my choices are being dictated such as how sick I should be to not come to school. This is an actual instance because there is a policy called "little sick, big sick" and lists symptoms when you "should" still come to school such as vomit, etc. Additionally, this year I am a freshmen at the Los Alamos High School and I was added to the Algebra 2 class but I did not have any credits for previous math high school credits and I was switched almost one month away from the end of the semester and have been expected to finish a whole semester of work within this time frame or receive an F. I've felt very disregarded at this school as for as how I feel and feel similar to just an item being moved from class to class with no regard whatsoever how I feel as far as the amount of work, etc. I am not the only person who has gone through this either as my brother who also attends the Los Alamos High School also had an inaccurate schedule. I also feel that the school is not very connected and that it feels less of a community. I also feel that certain concepts are being pushed that conflict with personal beliefs. I feel that there are a significant amount of issues regarding the care of students as well as the teachers. I have more issues with this school too but there is a maximum of characters on the review. Please try to avoid this school and look elsewhere or try to enroll in the online school if available.Student Review1y ago9 Reviews - Pinon Elementary School

"Schools are great. Entertainment poor. Teenagers have nothing to do. Very few restaurants stay open past 7pm. Town is laboratory town, sidewalks roll up after 6pm. 18k ppl live here after 7pm. 40k ppl travel here M-F 0600/1700. Traffic backed up 1600-1800. Two ways out of town both packed. Leave town before lab lets ppl go home. "

"Easy to get to my workplace, very little traffic. I do use my own car however, but that may be more due to the nature of my work, which allows me to come and go as I please."

"This is an extremely nice area. More kids are moving into the neighborhood which is great! My son is graduating this year and didn’t have kids his age to hang out with but this seems to be changing..."

"Los Alamos has good schools, great trails, low crime, and abundant sunshine. It's close to Santa Fe (45 min.) and less than 2 hours from Albuquerque and airport. Shopping/dining/nightlife limited to nonexistent. "

"I live and work here. If you need to shop or party this is not your town, but otherwise it is truly unique in it's amenities and quality of life."
