VO is a Blue Ribbon award winning school. It was always a top notch school but now with its brand new beautiful structure and state of the art classrms, the combined ingredients of having superior teachers and administration and remarkable mcas scores make this elementary school undoubtedly one of the best in the state. And if that were not enough the atmosphere is one of inclusion where staff and students through mutual respect and encouragement make learning and attending this school a pleasure. My 3 children have thrived here and issues of bullying echoing around the country seem non existent. The fall festival, spring concert, movie night, enrichment, mentor night, etc. are some of the most cherished times to watch your children enjoy and shine. VO on stage one of my favorites is one of my most memorable. Children have one night to get up on stage in front of their peers and perform anything from singing a song to the most awe inspiring performance. This year one group of boys understandably nervous began to falter. Every kid in the audience rushed the stage to cheer and help them sing the lyrics. It was one of the many great days I've had the pleasure of enjoying at VO.

As others have stated, most teachers do not seem to care about the students themselves but rather outcomes. Again, if your child is at the top then no worries, forget about it if they need any sort of 504, or god forbid IEP, the school will actively negate you and become oppositional. They are letting my child down daily and nobody—teachers nor admin and especially superintendent office seems to care.
