We've now had 6 years of experience with our child's enrollment at the Alder School and I can say that it will be a difficult school to top. Student body has ranged from 11 to 26 kids in various years. There are 2-4 teachers to cover K-6th and all are well-versed in handling multiple grade levels in one classroom. Kids receive plenty of one-on-one attention and the teacher/student ratio is excellent. Teachers are compassionate, caring, patient and never fail to go above and beyond in how they treat students (and parents). Younger students are mentored by the older ones, but in a very natural way (it's not forced, it just happens in the course of day-to-day schoolwork and functions such as lunch, recess, field trips, and extra curricular activities). We consistently receive compliments on Alder students from community members and other educators from other area schools. I would not hesitate to recommend the Alder School to anyone, and am so glad that we opted to enroll our child.

Despite what is said in this report (last update was 3 years ago, for what its worth) Sheridan has systematically performed better in testing scores over the last 2 years than the "higher" rated schools of Madison County. Completely outdated statistics on this site for Sheridan.
