If you consider allowing boys in girls bathrooms and locker rooms while your daughter changes for gym class a win then this is your school district. They also have a rainbow club that isn’t posted on their website led by a teacher and meets during school hours that does not require parent consent to join.

My overall experience working here was extremely challenging due to a consistent lack of support, poor communication, and little follow-through from administration at all levels, including athletics, district leadership, and HR. While the students and some coworkers were a positive part of the job and helped make difficult days more manageable, the overall environment made it hard to feel supported or confident in your role.If you work in athletics, you should expect very little support and a work environment filled with constant stress. The expectations are high, but the resources and backing provided often feel like the bare minimum. There is a strong culture of micromanagement, particularly from the athletic director, who tends to oversee every detail to an excessive degree. This can include reviewing or pre-approving emails, posts, and day-to-day decisions, making it difficult to operate independently or feel trusted in your position. At times, it can feel like you are expected to fulfill multiple roles at once without the appropriate support or autonomy.A typical day involves managing your responsibilities while also following up on unclear or inconsistent communication and documenting interactions to ensure accountability. The lack of reliable guidance and support creates an environment where staff must be cautious and self-protective.Overall, this workplace can be discouraging due to inconsistent leadership practices, limited support, and a culture that does not always back its employees. Anyone considering a position here, especially in athletics, should be prepared for a high-stress environment with limited support and significant micromanagement.

Avon Grove Middle School has a fantastic new building for students with many amenities found typically on in a high school. In addition, teachers and staff are so kind, caring and accommodating. Every year we find something better within agsd and our first year at this middle school is no exception. To please top to bottom with our middle school program.

If you have a child with special needs (including ADHD, Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Developmentally Delayed, etc.), look elsewhere. The school is completely understaffed to support the high number of special needs students in this school, despite it only being a K-1 school. Your IEP will not be followed, and you will receive no updates about your child's progress on a regular basis. Furthermore, the majority of the staff, to include the classroom assistants and lunch monitors, are not trained in working with special needs kids, going as far as calling children "rude," "bad," "irresponsible," etc. Staff often voice their political views to children, which is completely inappropriate in this setting. If you raise an issue or concern, you will be told "they'll look into it" and never get a solution unless you raise your concerns to the Principal or Vice Principal. Bullies are protected instead of dealt with, with the child who is being bullied being gaslighted (by being told they aren't being bullied) or told they are "too sensitive." Some teachers are great; others are clearly only there for a paycheck. No monitors on the bus, so older kids from the Intermediate School often pick on the younger children. Children are not allowed to talk during lunch and are reprimanded if they do. As an AGSD alumni and long-term member of the community, it is heartbreaking to see how far this district has fallen.
