If you are LGBTQ+ you will have a hard time in this school as bullying isn't handled properly and staff may focus on you for behavior more than other students. Kids also have been denied a plan despite diagnosis and parent request (I personally know this kid). Issues when a teacher acts out of line is not handled or taken serious. Some teachers here will threaten punishment for a bodily function a student can't control such as needing the bathroom, burping, or passing gas. Due to the large amount of students, with 7th and 8th sharing bathrooms, kids using the bathroom to play and crowd, or being bullied in the bathroom, there is little to no time during passing period. Kids have reported feeling unsafe and unwelcome at this school, as do I. I do not recommend Edison as a middle school when it comes to a child figuring out who they are or feeling safe.

Aside from a few very caring teachers, the staff is unapproachable. I had a problem with one of the students in my class, so I went to the guidance office to switch classes on the first day of school. As I was explaining my situation with tears in my eyes, the woman at the desk then coldly told me that I have to talk to the principal about it and she would not schedule an appointment with the guidance counselor. I was so upset that I ended up just leaving school and going home. The next day, I asked principal Laue to change classes and he seemed irritated and then told me I could only take a study hall then and wrote in all caps across my whole sheet of paper, “STUDY HALL ONLY.” As I was walking out of his office, I let out a sigh as I have anxiety and I was trying to calm myself down. He shouts after me, “Did you just sigh at me?! I just did you a huge favor!” I’ve been a great student. Always had over a 3.5 GPA and took honors and AP classes and this is how I was treated. Many of the teachers only care about the star athletes and not the students who genuinely care about their education. Bullying is just brushed aside as no one wants to deal with it. As far as the curriculum, it’s standard compared to neighboring schools. Their offering of advanced placement and honors classes is a plus.

Safe environment, clean school, awesome principal, and staff have great teamwork! Staff is always welcoming their students by first name with a smile!

I love this school it has worked very well for my daughter and she loves all off the staff and her peers

My grandson graduated last week from Tagos and I know how when he started he finally felt like he fit.
